REVIEW: HARLEY-DAVIDSON FORTY EIGHT SPORTSTER « Swag's Rant. I’ve been a Sportster fan since I was a little kid and Michael Parks was tearing up the TV screen as Jim Bronson in the cult classic show “Then Came Bronson”. For you younger readers that have no idea what I am talking about… that was about 1969… and since then I have had a long-lasting love affair with the entry-level Harley-Davidson. In recent years the Motor Company has wisely given some extra attention to the baby Harley, releasing some vintage looking spin-off models including The Nightster and the Iron 883 and this year they continue to emphasize that you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to own a piece of the Harley mystique by offering the model Forty-Eight Sportster.

I’ve been reading about this bike for a few months now and when my friends at Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Murfreesboro, Tennessee extended the offer to test one out, I jumped at the chance. Right off the bat let me just say… this bike is plain-old cool. And when I say old… I mean old. A Few Key Stats: Length: 88.6” Girlie Motorcycle Blog | Fuzzygalore.com. Vincent Motorcycles for Sale, Vincent Motorcycles Wanted. New/Used, UK. Interview: Chris Hunter - Bike EXIF - Pipeburn - Purveyors of Classic Motorcycles, Cafe Racers & Custom motorbikes. For most motorcycle enthusiaists BikeEXIF is probably bookmarked on their work and home computer. But many don’t know much about the man behind the site. It was created by Chris Hunter, who until a few months ago lived only a few miles away from me in Sydney, Australia. Chris recently quit his full time job in advertising and moved his family to a farm in New Zealand to focus on BikeEXIF full time. Chris has interviewed many motorcycling greats over the years, so we thought it was time the interviewer was interviewed himself.

We asked him a lot of the same question he usually asks plus a few more…. Why did you start Bike EXIF? What was the first motorcycle you bought with your own money? And do you still have it? BMW Ghost - Concept Motorcycle by Marko Petrovic. Bike of Prey I love a wild-inspired design, especially when its influence is so obvious. The BMW Ghost is a glimpse into what the next generation of motorcycles will look like, and it goes without saying that animate-aesthetics are already starting to trend especially when it comes to vehicles and bikes (love it). Don’t let the gentle snowy white with blue detailing fool you- there’s a 1600 cc, 6 cylinder engine wrapped in that complex body. I’d name mine Hedwig.

Why BMW? The brand is a natural choice for forward thinking, innovative design. Designer: Marko Petrovic. Ducati 1199 Panigale Superbike. OLMO - Craigslist Search. BMW_CONCEPT_6_6. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Moto Guzzi Stelvio custom before. And this is no half-hearted attempt: the big adventure tourer from Mandello del Lario has been transformed into a pseudo-motard powerhouse. It’s not the look you generally associate with a custom from Officine RossoPuro’s Filippo Barbacane—but on the other hand, it’s the sort of bike Guzzi could build themselves.

And I’m pretty sure there’d be a market for it. The visual heart of ‘Motard One’ is the Stelvio’s V-twin ‘quattrovalvole’ motor, which has been boosted from 1151 to 1420 cc and delivers 140 hp to the back wheel. It’s a ‘Big Bore’ engine built by the tuners Millepercento (and is reportedly the most powerful big block Guzzi motor on the market). There’s a new race-spec FRAM Corse radiator to help with cooling, and the custom exhaust pipework—built by Barbacane himself—terminates neatly underneath the bike.

The brake system has been upgraded with selected Brembo components. It looks like a helluva lot of fun to me. Radical-ducati-cafe-veloce-10.jpg (JPEG Image, 1600x1067 pixels) - Scaled (60%)
