Carl Showalter. Carl Showalter brings more than 12 years of executive experience to Opus from innovative and market-making technology companies such as Juniper Networks and UUNET.
Carl’s current areas of interest include the Internet of Things, network virtualization, next generation wireless, and data center/cloud infrastructure software. Before joining Opus Carl was a General Partner with Lightspeed Venture Partners. Ken Elefant (kelefant) Gill Kogan. Gill Cogan brings more than 25 years of venture capital investing experience in software, communications and semiconductors as well as experience building and leading venture capital firms.
Gill currently works with enterprise software, big data analytics and synthesis, cloud security, and IC (mixed signal and high performance analog) companies in the US and Israel. Prior to Opus, he was a founding partner and Managing Partner of Lightspeed Venture Partners. He was also Managing General Partner at Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners. Gill has invested in a wide variety of early stage information technology companies such as Vantive (NASDAQ: VNTV, acquired by PeopleSoft (NASDAQ:PSFT)), Harmonic Lightwaves, Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT), Visigenic Software (NASDAQ: VSGN, acquired by Borland (NASDAQ: BORL)), Airgate PCS, Inc. Dan Avida. With 16 years experience building successful companies and guiding them through to profitable outcomes, Dan Avida brings a strong operating background to Opus Capital.
Dan is interested in working with innovative entrepreneurs in the US and Israel developing systems, cloud and enterprise infrastructure and applications, solutions for the post-PC world, security, and next generation collaboration platforms. Most recently, Dan was President and CEO of Decru Inc., a pioneering storage security company that Dan co-founded in 2001.
Decru was acquired for $272.5M by Network Appliance (NASDAQ: NTAP) in 2005. In 1989, Dan was a founding member of Electronics for Imaging (NASDAQ: EFII), which received its only round of venture funding from Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners, in 1992.
