From Air Supply to the Smiths, XTC, David Bowie and Dexy's Midnight Runners sure fire floor filler and dabblings from The Rocky Horror Picture Show are just some of the delicious retro treats included on The Perks of Being a Wallflower Soundtrack.
I'm proud to admit I remember these songs the first go around when they came out in the 80s and it's great to see "Come On Eileen" has that timeless kind of appeal to even get the most shy non-dancer to start stomping it up on the dance floor and inspiring mass dance floor karaoke singalongs to the chorus whooping up "Too-loo-rye-ay". The Dexys Midnight Runners song was the perfect song for the scene in the movie. The movie's official album only includes 12 tracks from New Order, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Cracker, Samples, The Innocence Mission, Galaxie 500 along with a single track from the score by Michael Brook.
