The Pink Panther (1964 film) As a child, Princess Dala receives a gift from her father, the Shah of Lugash: the Pink Panther, the largest diamond in the world. This huge pink gem has an unusual flaw: looking deeply into the stone, one perceives a tiny discoloration resembling a leaping panther. (As the camera moves in, this image comes to life and participates in the opening credits.) When Dala is a young woman, rebels seize power in Lugash and then demand possession of the jewel, but the exiled princess refuses to hand it over. Several years later, Dala (Claudia Cardinale) relaxes on holiday at an exclusive ski resort in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Also staying is a noted British playboy, Sir Charles Lytton (David Niven), who leads a secret life as a jewel thief called "The Phantom" and has his eyes on the Pink Panther.

Fitzcarraldo. Fitzcarraldo is a 1982 West German film written and directed by Werner Herzog and starring Klaus Kinski as the title character.

It portrays would-be rubber baron Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald, an Irishman known as Fitzcarraldo in Peru, who is determined to transport a steamship over a steep hill in order to access a rich rubber territory. The film is derived from the historic events of Peruvian rubber baron Carlos Fitzcarrald. Plot[edit] Brian Sweeney "Fitzcarraldo" Fitzgerald (Klaus Kinski) is an Irishman living in Iquitos, a small city in Peru in the early part of the 20th century, when the city expanded during the rubber boom. He has an indomitable spirit, but in essence is little more than a dreamer with one major failure already behind him — the bankrupted and incomplete Trans-Andean railways. A lover of opera and a great fan of the internationally known Italian tenor Enrico Caruso, he dreams of building an opera house in Iquitos.

Fitzcarraldo investigates entering the rubber business. The Red Tent (film) The Red Tent (Russian: Красная палатка, translit. Krasnaya palatka; Italian: La tenda rossa; Spanish: La tienda roja) is a joint Soviet/Italian 1969 film directed by Mikhail Kalatozov. The film is based on the story of the mission to rescue Umberto Nobile and the other survivors of the crash of the Airship Italia.

It features Sean Connery as Roald Amundsen and Peter Finch as Nobile. The script was adapted by Yuri Nagibin and Mikhail Kalatozov from Nagibin's novel of the same title. Nagibin couldn't complete the script due to a series of conflicts with the producer, who insisted on expanding the role of his mistress Claudia Cardinale,[1] and it was completed by de Concini and Bolt.[2][3][4] The film begins in Rome many years after the expedition.

As they try Nobile, the events of the expedition and its failure are depicted. Amundsen joins the rescue effort as well, but disappears, becoming another victim of Nobile's expedition. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (film) It is an action film with prominent pastiche and crossover themes[2] set in the late 19th century, featuring an assortment of fictional literary characters appropriate to the period, who act as Victorian Era superheroes. It draws on the works of Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Bram Stoker, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H. Rider Haggard, Ian Fleming, Herman Melville, Oscar Wilde, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Allan Poe, Gaston Leroux, and Mark Twain, albeit all adapted for the film. The film grossed $179,265,204 worldwide at the box office, rental revenue of $48,640,000, and DVD sales as of 2003 at $36,400,000.[3] Though not popular with critics or fans of the comic series, the movie has a cult following, particularly within the Victorian steampunk community.

This marked Sean Connery's last leading film role and on-screen film appearance before his retirement. In 1899, men dressed as German soldiers attack the Bank of England and steal Leonardo da Vinci’s layouts of Venice’s foundations. Zardoz. Zardoz is a 1974 science fiction/dark comedy written, produced, and directed by John Boorman. It stars Sean Connery, Charlotte Rampling, and Sara Kestelman. Zardoz was Connery's second post-James Bond role (after The Offence). The film was shot by cinematographer Geoffrey Unsworth on a budget of US$1.57 million.[1] Plot[edit] Arriving in the Vortex, Zed meets two Eternals — Consuella (Charlotte Rampling) and May (Sara Kestleman) — and is experimented upon by one of them before being made to work for another Eternal, a troublemaker called Friend (John Alderton).

The Eternals are overseen and protected from death by an AI called the Tabernacle (a large crystal mass in appearance) and have problems themselves, falling into catatonia through an odd illness or being deliberately aged into senility for violating a complex set of social rules. Zed discovers an old book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and he realizes the origin of the name Zardoz. Cast[edit] Reception[edit] References[edit] A Bridge Too Far (film) The film tells the story of the failure of Operation Market Garden during World War II, the Allied attempt to break through German lines and seize several bridges in the occupied Netherlands, including one at Arnhem, with the main objective of outflanking German defences. The name for the film comes from an unconfirmed comment attributed to British Lieutenant-General Frederick Browning, deputy commander of the First Allied Airborne Army, who told Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, the operation's architect, before the operation: "I think we may be going a bridge too far.

"[4] The film begins with a montage of archival film footage narrated by a Dutch woman, Kate ter Horst, describing the state of affairs in September 1944. U.S. Operation Market Garden envisions 35,000 men being flown 300 miles from air bases in England and being dropped as much as 64 miles behind enemy lines in the Netherlands. The airborne drops catch the Germans totally by surprise, and there is little resistance. Watch Page Eight online - download PageEight. Philadelphia en streaming.
