Lace Boot Socks. I've got some bigger house and garden stuff I've been working on the past couple of weeks so I only have time for a quickie craft today (sorry, nothing exciting, just digging up flower beds and painting the porch). And I have to admit, I have no idea what these things are called, but they're all the rage (at least on Pinterest) so I made a pair.
I call them boot socks. -----------------------------------Update: I really, really appreciate all of the new visitors coming over from Pinterest, but before you leave a comment asking me where I got my boots or the lace to make this project, please take a moment to actually read the post (especially if you are a no-reply blogger or anonymous). All of the information is right here in the post~------------------------------------ For those of you who aren't quite as trendy as I am (which would be difficult to accomplish), these babies are a way to add a layer of somethin' somethin' (do people still say that???) Here's what you need: Materials: Knit Receiving Blanket/Knit Baby Hats COMBO: Part 2. Okay, part 2 is here. Did you see the knit baby blanket tutorial yesterday (found here)? Well, here is a great way to complete a little baby set…….by adding a simple, yet cozy, knit baby hat. Or, hmmmm, maybe 3!
The hats are made from cotton interlock knit…..so they are perfectly stretchy and comfy. And while making one,why not make a couple more? And don’t forget the fluffy little knit flowers. If you’re making these for boys, you could applique a shape or a name right there on the front too. But those girls, they need some flowers! Did you make the blanket from yesterday already? Or at least buy/order some knit? If not, hurry it up………you’ll love how both of these projects turn out. Ready to make some little knit hats?.
Before getting started, keep in mind……that the shape of these hats are one dimensional. As mentioned in the baby blanket tutorial from yesterday, I found my knit here. First, I pre-washed my knit. I made my hats a size 0-3…….and are assuming they’ll fit just fine. And that’s it. Bapron-tutorial. Introducing the Bapron! Aka the “baby apron”. I hope the name doesn’t turn you off (I know it’s hopelessly cheesy), but this bib is really cool! It provides a ton of coverage in the front, much like an adult apron, and ties in back with bias tape! It’s easy to make-I can whip one out in less than 1/2 hour (I’ve made a dozen or so, so I’m getting pretty quick!) Here’s the back view with the cute ties! Tip: I use this awesome tool to make my bias tape!

I had so much fun working with all my old t-shirts when I did the Upcycled Boy Hats. This time around I thought I'd give girls a try. (Don't worry, I'll do a boy version of it later.) Let me introduce the Upcycled T-shirt Dress. Now right off the bat you might be thinking, "That's nice but I don't have any cute t-shirts or knits. " Don't you fret or frown. I've got an extra little step for you. After rounding up my t-shirts, I felt like some of them needed something extra.
I did another one using a lip stamp from the same pack. To add a little variety, I took another fabric and drew "XOXO"s all over it with my fabric markers. For the top of the dress you can cut off any shirt. Next I aligned all my different strips and sewed them together. I trimmed the edges carefully. I sewed the front and back together, but I didn't want those seams on the outside. It was a fun project and I was happy to give my dull old knits some extra life.
