Stay In And Have A Bath - It's January! “There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them.” - Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar Depending on where in the world you are, it feels as though there's no better time of year to soak in a tub than post NewYear, when the holidays are over and we settle into the quiet, dark months of January and February. If you were lucky, you may have received some delicious bathing goodies over the holiday that can be put to good use now.
Trend - Red Eye Eyeshadow Red eye shadow has been seen on the runway a lot over the past few seasons, most notably at Thakoon A/W 2011 and Miu Miu S/S 2012. I personally feel that it looks more modern when you colour block it as a single shade. Blending it with other shades or trying to make it subtle and wearable feels like a total misnomer and slightly misses the point. Whenever I use red on the eyes for editorial I love it best as a bold, clean statement. One could probably make any shade of red work with the right application and make-up on the rest of the face however, as much as I don’t really like make-up ‘rules’, I do feel that for the novice red eye shadow wearer there are certain shades that work best on different skin tones. Cheryl Cole UK Elle Cover Look After posting the pictures on my blog, I had loads of requests to film a tutorial for this look which I created for Cheryl Cole’s February ELLE cover. It’s a great look as it’s cool and sexy without being overdone, and it suits the majority of faces and skin tones. My main aim was to create a ‘lived-in’ smoky eye, smudgy and imperfect, which looked great paired with strong brows and a pale lip. Cheryl Cole UK Elle Cover Look Cheryl Cole UK Elle Cover Look

thebeautydepartment.com - We love a good DIY, and we particularly love a DIY that includes flowers. Saw one of these floral ribbons at a retail store the other day. It was way too overpriced for my liking so of course we decided to create a version you can make yourself for about $2. It’s a simple thin ribbon with flowers and a bobby pin attached– not rocket science, but sometimes simple is just prettier. You know we love a flower crown but we’re head over heels for this as a new alternative. Here’s how we made it…
