Still, I couldn't give it up for sentimental reasons, so behold my new MXPX underwear. The back had to be kind of high-waisted to fit the graphic, but my butt is bigger than my dressform's so it doesn't come up so high on me. Making an underwear pattern is really easy if you're willing to cut up an old pair. It just takes a little practice to sew them up nicely. First, find a simple style of underwear that fits you well and cut off the elastic, cutting off as little fabric as possible. Pin your pieces down on paper, making sure the fabric is smooth, but not stretched, and trace. To figure out the lengths of elastic you need, just hold the elastic around your hips slightly stretched, but still comfortable, and cut.
If your T-shirt is too small for the back pattern piece, you can cut the sides off the pattern piece and move them to the front. The best how-to videos on the web.
