Okay, well, I've consulted with my dad, and he's recommended using regular, non-tempered glass (mostly for cost reasons). Provided it's backed by metal and supported well, and if it's 1/2" or thicker, it shouldn't crack ever, and if it does it actually won't be too hard or expensive to replace. For the metal, I backed out of the aluminum idea, partly for cost concerns, but mostly because I'll be painting it piano finish black anyway, so there's no point getting a more attractive metal if I'm going to cover it up.

Looks like I'll be using 1/16" steel or tin, backed with 1.5" x .5" rectangular steel tube for support. The desk will be 6' long by 3' wide and 30" high. I'll only have to drill four holes through the glass total, though I'm probably going to use extra dummy bolts on top to make it look riveted down for a sort of industrial look. __________________ Gigabyte P35-DS3R, Q6600 @ 3Ghz, 4x1GB A-Data 800 Mhz, MSI 8800 GT 512, WD 1 TB HDD. The easy light up, animated table. No electronics skills needed! It is easy and super cool to make. Yeah, Yeah, I know that there are some other Instructables out there on how to build a light up table, but this one is different.

The table is based off of mrgalleta's Instructable, but you don't have to have any electronics skills to build it. Like I was, you are probably thinking, "Wow, those tables are so cool, but how am I ever going to be able to build one? I don't know how to work with micro controllers, IC's, and other complicated electronics" That is why I decided to build this table. First off, I have no micro controller programming skills, so the table needed to look cool while still having the ability to do some animations. Second, I am very lazy and impatient, and did not want to spend a whole day soldering a hundred individual led's to a bunch of wires. Here is the finished project with the "random" animation feature turned on: Modern Minimalist Office Furniture - Furniture - Home Interior Designs Inspiration Ideas.

Mobile Fireplaces - The Eclypsya Fireplace by Benjamin Mesnard. The ultimate coffee table. The coffee table often resides in the center of our homes where we relax and read. These aspects influenced my design process of the table. The design incorporates a tray into the table top to display and store magazines. The tray was fabricated to allow the magazines or books to slightly rise above the plane of the table top. This allows a person to easily grab one for reading. Here, I want to share a table I designed and built that is quite useful and attractive.

I hope this will inspire you to make something similar. This was the first piece of furniture I ever built and enjoyed the process. I will explain how I built this table with the tools I had at the time but also give optional fabrication techniques / alternate materials that may be more readily available to you; for instance making the tray for the magazines out of wood instead of plastic. However, this is where an old glass top coffee table, spare wire shelving or extra aquarium equipment can dramatically reduce the cost. Even if you go out and buy every item you need for the project, note that ready-made coffee table aquariums appear to start at $500 before shipping. Finish Up. 4x4x4 LED Cube! LED Cube 4x4x4. Awesome led cube. Light-Up Bar Table! Final thoughts... The Desktop. !!! DONE !!! ENJOY THIS SUPER BRIGHT FLOOR LAMP. Finished Product (Comparison) LED Replacement Fluorescent Tube. In this instructable, I will try and outline all of the steps required to create an LED fluorescent replacement tube.

This instructable is provided more as a guideline, you can change almost anything in here to suit your needs. The lamp I created contained 87 LEDs, and this guide provides instructions for that many. This instructable contains the information on how to build a lamp, but there is too much information about how it works to include here. The approximate cost is $25.00 per lamp. If you would like more information than this instructable can provide, check out the website for this project. When I finished this project, I was very satisfied with the results. The best part about this project is saving energy. This project was seen at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (IISEF) and the Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF). Help us out and digg this story! Woodware: Ferro-Cement Computer Desk. Do you want to build a sailing boat and be off to Tahiti?

Strangely enough you can. There is a long established method that people use to do just that. The building technique uses cement reinforced with a lot of fine wire and is called ferro-cement. This technique uses very inexpensive materials but a whole lot of hand labor. It also takes skill, so maybe you want to start with a small project before you build your boat. How about a computer desk for your garden? Ferro-cement construction forms panels 3/8 inch to 3/4 inch thick that are very strong and can be shaped in a great variety of curves. A commercial version of ferro-cement was used to achieve the distinctive shell curves of the Sydney Opera House. Our current design is for a simple garden table that can be used with a lap-top computer, for eating a picnic lunch for two, for playing games like chess, or for gardening.

If this is the desk for you, email us this little form and we will detail the design just to suit your needs. Futuristic desk | Tuvie – Industrial Design and Future Technology. Over the years, we have seen many custom pc projects on the web that cooled a computer using common vegetable oil, including a very popular video by Tom's Hardware. In addition, we had questions about performance and long term effects.

Introduction Lots of folks lately are interested in PC case mods with plexiglass windows, fancy 5" bay gear, interior LED lighting, and custom fan grills. I think it's great - anything to get away from the blah-PC. I have a number of computers in the house (too many, actually), but I recently spent a weekend building an inexpensive PC with a plexiglass case, and ended up with a nice box. While not as little as my Shuttle SV 25 or Apple Cube, I feel pretty good about this first effort. What's Here This page provides some bare details about one approach to building a cheap, but transparent computer case. I'm not going to get into the pros or cons of using such a case, as I doubt the FCC would approve such a design and engineers might scoff at the RFI.
