Lauren's Latest » THE BEST {and easiest!!} Chocolate Frosting + Birthday Cake!

Last weekend, I posted this photo of my husband’s birthday cake I made: Looks good, right? And then you all went crazy asking, tweeting and emailing me for the recipe! Instead of responding to all of you, I just decided to do a blog post about the whole darn thing. So, first things first. At least that’s what I tell myself. You see, right before we left Sicily last year, my husband was promoted. I even toyed with the idea of a Black Forest Cake, another one that gets requested from time to time (maybe next time, Justin). Now, I won’t lie. Sure enough, lots of Red Velvet Cake recipes require the same amount of food coloring. Especially my hands.

What we are sure of, though, is that we've always loved the cupcake and therefore we don't really care who brought them back. Though it's easy to find chic upscale cupcakes these days, there's nothing better than a dark, moist chocolate cupcake covered in chocolate buttercream.
