They can be mixes for cookies, cakes, bath & beauty products (like bath salts and foot soaks), hearty soups, bread, buns, pastry ingredients, seasonings, hot beverages (like hot cocoa, instant cappuccino, chai tea, etc.), anything that will keep well sealed in a container pretty much works. Sometimes the ingredients are all layered and this can look quite appealing if there’s some contrast between the colors, other times the ingredients are fully blended before packaging.

You can also choose something other than dry mixes, try homemade jams, jellies, pickled peppers, infused olive oil…even homemade vanilla extract! (see the link “Ideas From The Kitchen” I added below for recipes). If you’re not a baker or not comfortable with pickling or canning, you can go simple by filling jars with assorted nuts and candies. Printables: DIY Monday: Fabric Journals. DIY Monday is back!

DIY Monday: Fabric Journals

I am so excited to share with you this simple and super fun idea for covering journals.... step 1: choose some fabric that you love! I buy almost all my fabric from etsy.com (search under 'supplies'). i love vintage sheets (like these), cute japanese patterns, and random designer patterns. you'll also need a couple moleskine journals (or any paper covered journal... and of course, you can always DIY your own from scratch if you like). i like large journals with unlined pages for sketching!

Step 2: iron your fabric. you won't want any wrinkles on your book cover. :) (lay your journals under something heavy for about 10 minutes while the glue dries) step 4: trim the fabric right up to the edge of your journals. (pretty scraps... i thought they needed their own photo.) step 5: add machine or hand stitching to add extra durability to the edges of your journal. this step is optional! Yay! First, use a disappearing pen to draw a cute mustache on the top of your journal. ta-da! DIY Monday: Funny Bunny Plush Doll. I had so much fun creating this quirky little bunny doll.

DIY Monday: Funny Bunny Plush Doll

I'm planning to gift this to Jeremy's niece, Isabella, for Easter. I looove Easter, but I've never been a fan of traditional Easter colors. This plushie can easily be adapted into lots of different animals or you can even make a cute bunny family! Anyway, here goes... I stitched this plush up in about 2 hours from %100 recycled materials (minus tread)! Step 1: Cut 2 pieces each of these two measurements (inches). Step 2: Begin stitching details on your plush's face (One of the 7x8inch rectangles). Step 3: Complete details on the face with machine and/or hand stitching and buttons. note: buttons are not safe for babies, they can be substituted for felt appliques! Step 4: To stitch together your bunny's head; stitch, reverse and stuff ears (example below) stitch the face together with the facial features facing down (insider) and the ears upside down on the inside.

Bunny ear example. And here's another 'in progress' shot. Hooray!
