After putting on-line MyBlues.eu which narrates my literature journey through the early blues and its roots, and after inviting all of you to share how you feel about the blues on ThyBlues, I found it a natural step to open up a third panel to the triptych : OurBlues. Its goal is simple: to gather articles which I have appreciated personally as very inspiring in my literature journey, and which I would like to share with you all hoping that you might find them also stimulating to conduct your own journey into the blues. Does this mean that I agree with all the author contends? Not always, but its presence here means that I find it interesting enough to consider and to provoke a debate. When I have obtained the authorisation from the author, I will reproduce the article in its full length. Il fut sans doute le premier Européen à avoir découvert John Lee Hooker et quelques autres, à une époque où ses confrères pensaient que le blues avait rendu l’âme dans les années 30 et n’était plus que l’œuvre de charité du jazz.
Demêtre a resitué le blues dans le siècle européen, avec une pensée claire, moderne, sans une trace de folklore ! Blues Again : Avant le blues, vous vous intéressiez au jazz… Jacques Demêtre : J’ai commencé par écouter des orchestres à sketches, comme on disait dans les années 30 et 40. Ray Ventura, Raymond Legrand ou Jo Bouillon. On y retrouvait un reflet de l’époque. On pouvait néanmoins écouter du jazz pendant l’Occupation ? Vous étiez zazou ?
