From the late ’40s through the early ’60s, Cash Box published both Juke Box and Best Sellers singles charts. This archive currently concentrates exclusively on the latter, since they were more extensive and were the forerunners of the Cash Box Top 100. The best-seller charts of the mid-’40s through early ’50s usually contained 40 positions. Cash Box combined all currently available recordings of a song into one chart position, with artist and label info listed for each version, alphabetized by label, but with no indication of which version(s) were the biggest sellers. With the issue dated October 13, 1951, the chart increased to 50 positions under the banner “The Nation’s Top 50 Best Selling Records.” During the summer of 1956, the banner was changed to read “The Cash Box Top 50 Best Selling Tunes on Records.” Play the Jukebox. Nel 1985 Claudio Sorge, giornalista della rivista Rockerilla, pubblicò il primo numero della fanzine “Lost Trails”, dedicata alla musica sixties, garage e psichedelica.
In quegli anni centinaia di gruppi cominciarono ad uscire dalle cantine rifacendosi ai miti del punk americano dei ’60 e alla British Psychedelia. Questo vero e proprio movimento coinvolse gente da tutte le parti del mondo, dagli States alla Svezia, dall’Italia al Regno Unito alla Francia ed emersero bands importanti come i Fuzztones, i Vipers, i Wilde Mammoths, i No Strange e i Sick Rose e tantissimi altri. Nei 4 anni di vita, Claudio Sorge pubblicò 10 numeri di Lost Trails, e ad ogni uscita era allegato un hard-vinyl formato 7-inch con incise canzoni dei gruppi più importanti del movimento sixties.
