Thich Nhat Hanh Dharma Talks. Buddhism and Science: Value Education - His Eminence Kyabje Khamtrul Rinpoche.

By His Eminence IX Khamtrul Rinpoche Why Buddhist Value Education? Buddhist teachings form as part of the curriculum in of the many universities around the world and many find that certain aspects of Buddhist teachings such as metaphysics, mindfulness and self-analysis are very much compatible with modern neuroscience and psychological studies. We can also relate Buddhism and education from that point of view but today I would like to talk about the correlation between Buddhist teachings and what is termed by educationalists as value education, moral education, civic education, EQ, etc. in different parts of the world. The simplest idea of value education is about creating the emergence of a set of beliefs and attitudes as a person's character and personality, so that their beliefs will influence their behavior and thereby their actions in a positive manner and direction, not only for the individual themselves, but also the society at large.

Steps in Yoga Meditation by Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati SwamiJ.com Yoga meditation is a systematic process, in which you work with the grosser, or more external aspects of your being, and then move inward, doing the more subtle practices, which gently brings you to meditation.

(See also the article What is Yoga Meditation?) The specific stretches or postures, survey or relaxation methods, breathing practices, and types of meditation will also vary, depending on your level of expertise and predispositions. The amount of time spent with each of the practices may vary, depending on your own training and predispositions. The total length of practice (all four) may also vary (The 60-minute clock in the picture above is just an example). Whichever practices are done, and however the time is divided, practicing in this systematic way will definitely provide a deeper and richer meditation.
