As of December 1, 2009 The survey has been developed in an effort to assist consumers to comparison shop for the consumer checking account which will best fit their individual needs. Detailed information has been provided by over 300 Massachusetts banks and credit unions relative to available checking accounts and their varied features and fee structures. There are many factors to consider before opening an account with a financial institution.
The Division's brochure, How to Choose Which Bank or Credit Union Is Right For You is available on-line and reviews such considerations as available products and services, office locations, ATM network, e-banking capabilities, fees, and information on how to close accounts with one bank while simultaneously establishing a banking relationship with another financial institution. The results of this survey provide a great deal of information related to consumer checking accounts with minimum balance requirements of $10,000 or less.
