On creative machines and the physical origins of freedom : Scientific Reports. Machine intelligence and creativity If we accept that free will is compatible with physical law, we also have to accept that it must be possible, in principle, to build a machine that would exhibit similar forms of freedom as the one we usually ascribe to humans and certain animals.
It is likely to turn out that the task of building such a machine will be far too complex to be realizable in any practical terms, or that it will be at least as complex as the task (and pleasure) of raising and educating a human child within society.
