Build 3D paper letters from a nifty font

Punched Out is a free font that allows you to type letters, print, cut, fold, and glue to make 3D forms. Created by Tobias Sommer, it's available for download at Dafont or Fontstruct. I gave it a try while watching TV. It's a little tedious, but the result is fun! I printed the letters in gray, scored along the center of the dashed lines, and folded so that the printing ended up on the inside of each letter. Paintbrush Sorting Solved! Classes

Hi, I’m Jessica Balsley, founder of The Art of Education. A few years ago, I found myself in your exact same shoes. I was looking for credits to renew my teaching license and was frustrated by the lack of PD opportunities available specifically for Art Teachers. This got me thinking… what Art Teachers really deserve is a place where they can take classes online, earn graduate credit, take electives towards a Master’s degree, renew their teaching license, and more… all with classes that are actually relevant to their classroom! Better yet, what if they could do this from the comfort of home? Introducing AOE Classes. Art Projects » Freckle PhotoBlog. iTunes Project » Freckle PhotoBlog. Hands! » Freckle PhotoBlog.

Packing Tape Image Transfers

It’s something I’m always using in my journals but there are so many other fun uses for them. All you need to make a transfer is a photocopy of an image or words and packing tape. You can also use printouts from a laser printer or magazine pages. Inkjets will not work because they are not heat based toner. So take some photos to the copy machine or tear some pages out of your favorite magazine to get started. Copper foil tooling & embossing. Photo at left: Steel number stamping.

Don't Let the Pigeon...

I remember the first time I saw his book Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! Tracing Shadows. Crafternoon: Watercolor Spray Paints. Today at Crafternoon, we made watercolor spray paint art. We were inspired by this post at Artful Adventures. We started with watercolors in tubes (found at our local art-supply store), which we diluted with water in little spray bottles (found in the travel cosmetics section of a local superstore). Then, we used a variety of objects to mask areas of our heavy watercolor paper — string, crocheted lace doilies, metal washers, coins, plastic stencils, s-hooks, foam letters and shapes, etc.

We sprayed and spritzed. When we got pools of paint, we picked up the paper to let the colors run, or blotted the pools with paper towels. The spray bottles were challenging for some of our younger artists (kindergarten age) to manipulate. Theater Games for Art Class. The Calvert Canvas: Adventures in Middle School Art! The Calvert Canvas: Adventures in Middle School Art!

It is a process in which the subject stands out or projects a surface from the background. The surface can be several levels including high relief (deep or almost in the round) or low relief (shallow) or anywhere in between. To create their relief sculptures, seventh graders first learned about the difference between shape and form. A shape is two-dimensional (it has height and width) whereas a form is three-dimensional (it not only has height and width but also depth). Students experimented creating forms out of basic paper shapes by rolling, bending, folding and gluing them. The final pieces: The smARTteacher Resource: Graph Art.
