Wednes-diy. Having a real christmas tree is nice, but not everyone has the time or resources to go out and get one and haul it home. luckily, there are plenty of DIY options out there for alternative “christmas trees” that look just as pretty and would be a really fun craft project that you can still do in time for christmas!

I love the idea of finding branches lying around outside and using them to create a very natural, earthy looking tree like this one, with some paper snowflakes for a delicate touch. another really cool idea…suspend the branch over a table with some string and hang ornaments from it. this awesome tree is a branch from outside, painted white and decorated with garlands and various found items like vintage potholders, crocheted doilies, cotton spools, buttons and thrift store figurines. a neat idea, if you’re willing to nail a bunch of branches to your wall… …or a bunch of items in the shape of a Christmas tree.

DIY Mini Wreaths – DIY Christmas Ornaments

Holidays in NYC can get pretty hectic. The city is full of crowds going to shows, holiday shopping, and enjoying all of the wonderful things the city has to offer this time of year… While I love the hustle and bustle of it all, it is really nice to come home to my a cozy hideaway in Brooklyn. As the days get shorter, temperature drops, and the solstice approaches, I try to fill my apartment with warmth and light. This year I bought a table top tree to add some festive cheer to my studio. To decorate the tree, I bought some bright, glittery ornaments, and I also made some miniature wreaths to bring in a more natural element. All photos by Chelsea Muller. Here is how I made them: Materials: Grapevine- available at most craft stores and online. Holiday Decorating – DIY Alternative Christmas Tree. I’ve always felt that the holidays just wouldn’t feel right without a Christmas tree… but that doesn’t mean it has to be a typical tree.

Holiday Decorating – DIY Alternative Christmas Tree

Some of us just don’t have the space to fit a large evergreen in our homes — and coming up with creative ways to make an alternative tree is just so much fun. This year we’ve created a “tree” using bits of nature collected from the outside, along with some other fun things. Allow this to serve as inspiration for your own alternative tree, and then tell us: What would you include in yours? Take a walk outside and collect little pieces of nature that seem fitting… fallen pieces of tree bark, snips from evergreen bushes, twigs, berries. I started my tree with a piece from an evergreen — it seemed really fitting for the top of my tree. The other bloggers and I thought it would be fun to include some tarot cards, old photographs, and book pages that have separated over the years. I love the mini vignettes that appear within the tree.

Holiday Wreath DIY

Yes! Wreaths make for such beautiful home décor this time of year… hung delicately on your front door, over your bed, on a big window in your kitchen. I was really fortunate to receive a personal holiday wreath how-to from the incredible Meredith — Special Projects Manager at Terrain in Glen Mills. I love that she chose colorful materials to steer this away from your typical holiday wreath – and the fact that she used no other tools aside from a pair of pruners just blew my mind! Here’s how it’s done. Materials: Silver dollar eucalyptus, red twig dogwood, flame willow, pruners. *Before you begin: Flame willow and red twig dogwood are naturally flexible… if they haven’t been stored in water, allow them to soak for at least 24 hours to regain their flexibility — the longer the better. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. DIY Holiday Mobile

I’ve been saving lots of inspiration for a holiday mobile and finally got around to making one. It would make a beautiful decoration hanging above a dinner table or simply in front of a window, catching the light! What I love about this project is that there really aren’t any rules, you can make it up as you go along and add your own special touches to make it unique to you. Here’s how I made mine, maybe it will inspire you to make one as well! What you need: This depends entirely on what you want your mobile to look like, but for mine I used a branch, some white feathers, pine cones, clear fillable ornaments, glue and gold glitter.

I painted the branch gold first to go with the color scheme of this mobile, but it would look pretty in its natural state too! Méchant Design: natural & raw Christmas. Paper Flower Christmas Wreath. How to paint acorns.
