One of the cutest Tumblrs we've come across lately, Music History In Gifs is the work of musician/photographer Joshua Carrafa. He's selected a bunch of key music moments and rendered them as animations, in the lovably primitive style of old-school video games. Here are a few highlights. 1969 - The Beatles release 'Abbey Road 2006 - The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne debuts the hamster ball 2003 - The White Stripes release 'Elephant' 2001 - The Strokes release 'Is This It' 1997 - Radiohead release 'OK Computer' 1994 - Weezer's groundbreaking 'Buddy Holly' video 1992 - Guns N'Roses' epic 'November Rain' video 1990 - MC Hammer gives the world 'U Can't Touch This' - and parachute pants 1998 - Sonic Youth release 'Daydream Nation' 2008 - Rickrolling triggers an unlikely comeback for Rick Astley 1984 - Talking Heads release 'Stop Making Sense', the ultimate concert movie 1983 - Michael Jackson popularises the moonwalk 1980 - The Cure release their US debut, 'Boys Don't Cry'

DIY Honeycomb Shelves. Sarah and her handy husband Josh recently created this beautiful honeycomb style shelving unit for their home. This project is a little bit more involved because of the tools, but stick with it and you're going to have some amazing shelves. This DIY will make a three-comb shelf, and once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to make more combs to add to it. Supplies needed: A miter saw (or chop saw), wood screws or sheet rock screws at 1 1/4", a drill and drill bit (drill bit should be slightly smaller than the screws you are using), a level, a rotary sander (or sandpaper will work fine), wood glue, a tape measurer, some wall brackets, a pencil for marking measurements, and 3 fencing planks from your hardware or lumber store! *When choosing your wood at the store, check to make sure the wood isn't warped or twisty!

In his continued forays into experimental botany that blur the lines between art and science, artist Makoto Azuma (previously) has reimagined the bonsai tree, one of the oldest Japanese artforms. This latest work titled Water and Bonsai, began with a dead branch from a juniper tree which was carefully attached to java moss meant to simulate the form of leaves. The entire piece was then submerged into a modified hydroponic environment similar to some of his earlier aquatic plantscapes replete with LEDs, a filtration system, and C02 emissions that encourage photosynthesis.

On a walk around the bush in Australia, entomologist Jurgen Otto came across a tiny insect he'd never come in contact with before—the Peacock Spider. The scientist says, "When I came to Sydney I was a bit bored because there wasn't enough to photograph but now I don't want to live anywhere else. I think it's probably the most beautiful spider in the world. " The arachnid, scientifically known as Maratus volans, is a mere 5mm in size and is capable of quickly escaping a scene and jumping erratically.

Yet, what defines the spider best is perhaps its unusual likeness to peacocks. Like male peacocks with their exuberant tail feathers, the male peacock spiders are equipped with beautifully colorful flaps that rise up like a fan, displaying an unbelievable radiance and richness in breathtaking patterns. The males of this species are the only gender with colorful flaps so as to attract the females. Most Insane Thing You’ll See Today: Russian Teens Capture Death-Defying Images Climbing Moscow’s Tallest Structures. Have they no fear? There is a new trend among the young and brave in Russia called "Skywalking," where groups of teens are climbing to the top of towering structures and buildings to capture heart-racing images from above. Two such daredevils are Vitaly Raskalov and Alexander Remnov, who have created a portfolio of photographs from their vertical ventures.

These two men have scaled some of Moscow's greatest heights, from bridges and water towers to skyscrapers, posing in nail-biting, dangerous positions. Oh, did we mention they do it all without any safety equipment? Gulp! Add To Collection Save this image to a collection While Raskalov and Remnov may be conquering perilous feats, they are also carving out a photographic niche all their own.

A people known as the Korowai tribe don't need to stretch their imagination at all because their lives have always been spent living in tree houses that soar high above. On the island of New Guinea in the southeastern part of Papua, the isolated tribe is the only group of people in the world that have established their primary residence in tree houses.

It's an intriguing way to live that, to us, appears like a daredevil's lifestyle, though the reason behind the elevated homes in the jungle is actually for safety precautions. The area, which is prone to flooding and populated with buzzing insects, proves to be a life-threatening and troublesome land to live on ground-level. As if creating homes on trees and managing to survive in them wasn't enough, the tribe's diligent process is yet another factor to be in awe of. Gigantic Flower Sculpture Festival in Netherlands. EmailEmail Holland is already known for its monumental tulip fields, but here’s something even more impressive: the Bloemencorso flower festival in Zundert, a small 20 000 people town north east of Belgium. And by flower festival, we mean gigantic flower sculptures on moving floats, driving down the streets! Held since 1936, the flower festival invites participants to create the floats on voluntary basis, and it is now a competition between different neighborhoods of the town.

The sculptures are made entirely from dahlias, and since they can only stay fresh for so long, putting them on the structure is the last thing people do before the festival. The Bloemencorso is held on the first Sunday of September, which next year will be September 1-2. Save the date!
