@ SarahDot : Well does windows count as a video game? Does driving? I think finding a realistic control group would be very hard. Not because they need to be non-gamers, but because where do you draw the line about video games. I mean we're surrounded by electronic interactive media that doesn't count as a video game.

It's A Topsy-Turvy World, Because Firefall Is Going To Be Free
@ JimSmoker : Except that LoL, while I love it, is pretty simplistic for the servers, even if the game mechanics themselves can get acceptably complex. LoL has 2 maps, the biggest of which is 5v5, and the only persistent things are UI and stat based, no world progression. This is as close to an MMO shooter we've seen in a while, and will supposedly support hundreds of people at once, and its also an FPS so keeping lag to a minimum will be MUCH more important than in a game like LoL. Its technically the same business model used for a TON of stuff (DDO, LoL, etc), but its pretty crazy to use this for a FPS.

What Defines the Player-Character?
"it makes sense that the more options we're offered to control our character's actions, the more likely we are to become immersed in the game, and see it as a unique experience." I think this is an inaccurate line of thought and can mislead aspiring game designers. While I agree, more mechanics and verbs add to the depth of the game.

I actually had no desire to get this game at all. That is until I got home from work today and started checking out the new Nintendo Channel. I randomly looked at the Wii Fit video with my girlfriend and we were suddenly intrigued. I especially like the whole yoga aspect of the software. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I really think some people could get a lot of use out of it.
