PLOS 10/10/14 Ehrlichia chaffeensis Infection in the Reservoir Host (White-Tailed Deer) and in an Incidental Host (Dog) Is Impacted by Its Prior Growth in Macrophage and Tick Cell Environments. Abstract.
The regions described in the study presented here resulted from a geoeconomic division of the country. This classification is not coincidental with a climatic division, which according to humidity and temperature categorizes the country into areas with a warm wet, warm humid, dry, very dry, mild humid and mild wet climate (Fig. 2) . Seropositivity values for Anaplasma spp., B. burgdorferi (sensu lato), D. immitis and E. canis reported here must be interpreted as current infection with or previous exposure to the pathogens under assessment. COMPANION ANIMAL PARASITE COUNCIL - 2016 - No decline in ehrlichiosis forecasted in 2016. By by Michael Yabsley, PhD, FRES and Emilio DeBess, DVM, MPVM Ehrlichiosis continues to pose a problem for dogs in the United States this year, according to the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC).
Although ehrlichiosis is generally common to western Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri, we expect these regions to have even higher activity this year, based on analysis of climatic variables. Higher activity is also predicted in southern California and the southeastern US, especially east of the Mississippi River. Arkansas, where ehrlichiosis is generally common, may see less activity this year, but prevalence is expected to remain high in the region, so continued vigilance and tick control are recommended.
Year-round protection, regular screening Dogs are primarily infected with Ehrlichia canis via Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick), although Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick) is also capable of transmitting the bacteria. Imported and travelling dogs as carriers of canine vector-borne pathogens in Germany With the import of pets and pets taken abroad, arthropod-borne diseases have increased in frequency in German veterinary practices.
This is reflected by 4,681 dogs that have been either travelled to or relocated from endemic areas to Germany. The case history of these dogs and the laboratory findings have been compared with samples collected from 331 dogs living in an endemic area in Portugal. 7THSPACE 08/04/10 Comparison of selected canine vector-borne diseases between urban animal shelter and rural hunting dogs in Kor.
Comparison of selected canine vector-borne diseases between urban animal shelter and rural hunting dogs in Korea A serological survey for Dirofilaria immitis, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia canis, and Borrelia burgdorferi infections in rural hunting and urban shelter dogs mainly from southwestern regions of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) was conducted. From a total of 229 wild boar or pheasant hunting dogs, the number of serologically positive dogs for any of the four pathogens was 93 (40.6%).
