Ben & Jerry's, the Unilever-owned ice cream brand, was one of the few —- perhaps the only — major brand to weigh in on the issue. The ice cream company did so with this apropos tweet on Thursday. With this shift in the demographic of craft ale drinker’s inclusive social media marketing has never been more important. A recent campaign by Scottish brewers BrewDog caused quite a stir on social media. The mischievous brand sought to create the world’s first crowd-sourced beer. Twitter users were asked to Tweet using #MashTag to vote on the ingredients, the hops even the label. What resulted was a myriad of Tweets, 5,000 votes and coverage across the net with the story being widely reported in America. Craft beer marketing and importantly sales have got some of the big drinks producers sitting up and listening.
