The Three Basic Facts of Existence: I. Impermanence (Anicca) If we contemplate even a minute sector of the vast range of life, we are faced with such a tremendous variety of life's manifestations that it defeats description.

The Three Basic Facts of Existence: I. Impermanence (Anicca)

And yet three basic statements can be made that are valid for all animate existence, from the microbe up to the creative mind of a human genius. These features common to all life were first found and formulated over 2500 years ago by the Buddha, who was rightly called "Knower of the Worlds" (loka-vidu). They are the Three Characteristics (ti-lakkha.na) of all that is conditioned, i.e., dependently arisen. In English renderings, they are also sometimes called Signs, Signata, or Marks. These three basic facts of all existence are: Impermanence or Change (anicca)Suffering or Unsatisfactoriness (dukkha)Not-self or Insubstantiality (anattaa).

The first and the third apply to inanimate existence as well, while the second (suffering) is, of course, only an experience of the animate. . — Nyanaponika. Livemapp on Behance. (2010 -11) Web Architecture and Strategy on Behance. Web Architecture Blueprint for.

Graphic Design Theory: 50 Resources and Articles. As designers, we often focus on the practical aspects of design above all else.

Graphic Design Theory: 50 Resources and Articles

We focus on what works, with little regard for why it works. And in our day-to-day work, that outlook serves us well. It lets us get our work done in an efficient, professional manner, and generally nets good results. But spending some time on the theory behind the graphic design principles we use every day can expand our design horizons. It can open up new avenues of creativity and experimentation that can lead our designs from just good, to fantastic. General Design Theory. Results - Food Buddha. Within the design phase is the study of characters or stakeholders for a given project, and like every good story, these characters are placed in a context. Observing these characters in context through ethnographic research, patterns emerge indicating a conflict, which in turn, yields design opportunities. In the design phase, opportunities are explored in a divergent process through ideation, and these concepts are validated according to findings from the culture phase. Validated concepts are further refined and converge during the prototyping phase. 101 Things I Learned in Interaction Design School.

Harsh Panchal. Why User Experience Cannot Be Designed. Advertisement A lot of designers seem to be talking about user experience (UX) these days.

Why User Experience Cannot Be Designed

We’re supposed to delight our users, even provide them with magic, so that they love our websites, apps and start-ups. User experience is a very blurry concept. Consequently, many people use the term incorrectly. Furthermore, many designers seem to have a firm (and often unrealistic) belief in how they can craft the user experience of their product. Heterogeneous Interpretations of UX I recently visited the elegant website of a design agency. The perception might not be representative of our industry, but it illustrates that UX is perceived in different ways and that it is sometimes used as a buzzword for usability (for more, see Hans-Christian Jetter and Jens Gerken’s article “A simplified model of user experience for practical application1”).

Some research indicates that perceptions of UX are different. Hassenzahl’s Model Of UX. Finding your dream job in User Experience on Behance. Barton Smith. I wanted to write down some thoughts on my time at Flud over the last 6 months for those of you out there who may be thinking about joining a startup but just don’t know what to expect or think it might be a little too risky compared to the corporate womb.

I was back in Australia in June when Bobby, who I had met through the interwebs a year earlier, popped his head up, offering me a position to help out with his design efforts as they entered their new phase of Fludery. Side note: If you are in San Diego and you are interested in startup culture and how the world works, grab a beer with him. He is the most energetic, optimistically passionate person you are likely to meet.

Hell, after 6 months he even got me, someone who never reads or watches the ‘news’ excited about news and the future he thinks he can, and will, build. Anyway back to the story… So in June I moved back to the States to sunny San Diego. Tabish Ahmed Syed - Interactive Media and Game Designer. Spencer Denton on the Behance Network. Minimally Minimal.
