Rudimentary Music Visualizations Took ‘Hundreds of Hours’ in MS Paint. Remember Paint — as in Microsoft Paint, the ultra-basic graphics program that has shipped with every Windows operating system since 1985? As it turns out, people are still using this program, the “Comic Sans“ of graphic design, in one case to make what we’re pretty sure is the most bare-bones music visualization app ever. Even weirder, it apparently took hundreds of painstaking hours to create in MS Paint, which is probably more than anyone’s used the program in the past decade. Los Angeles-based Ben Cassorla, of the band Cassorla, fooled around with Paint while on a tour bus with his band long enough to create frame-by-frame-animation music videos for his new EP, Plastic.

“I learned an editing program [for audio and video], but had no way of creating graphics,” Cassorla told Evolver.fm. “That is, until I remembered that old accessories-folder-of-Windows 95 standby, Paint.” The lo-fi revival just keeps on coming. Magazine > Invisible clothes | The Emperor's fresh garments. Invisibility has always been a staple of sci fi, spy stories and magic. Now we might be one step closer to the real thing, as scientists last month made a tiny object invisible.

For us, progress just isn’t fast enough, so we’re exploring other options. Here’s our quick guide to dressing to disappear. Mirrors are a classic trick of the magic show, and offer the best way of actually becoming ‘invisible’. Try on a pair of these shoes by Andreia Chaves and entertain yourself by walking around on different surfaces. Even if you aren’t actually invisible they still look pretty cool, especially in this field.

You could pair them up with this mirrored dress, as seen in a Paloma Faith video. If you’re just interested in the invisibility concept, you’ll love this look. A pair of these shoes will give you that casual barefooted look, even in winter. Sticking with the clothing for a moment, check out the ‘see-through’ skirts being worn in Japan. Finally, back to the point. Hiding the TV in Plain Sight: Test Pattern TV Cover | Apartment Therapy Chicago. Previous image Next image The last time we owned a television it was one of those big, old, boxy tube types that weighed more than an average adult. When we downsized from a larger home into our 850 square foot condo, the TV was added to the pile of things that were too cumbersome for our new streamlined life.

Now, four years later, Santa brought us a new flat screen television. While I'm happy to be able to watch DVDs on something other than a computer, I was enjoying the fact that we didn't have a television on view in our home. Solution? To make the TV cover, I first did a Google image search for TV test patterns. The cover itself was a matter of measuring the television — approximately 19" wide, 13" high and 4" deep. With the test pattern and pockets sewn onto the panels, I stitched all the pieces together.

Panasonic Note. Lately, we've been pondering some of the better web designs that have popped up over the past year.

When we say "web design," we're looking beyond the pretty face of a well-laid-out page, beyond color and typography, beyond trends. As greater bandwidth, new file formats and new markup specs make it easier, cheaper and faster to deliver high-quality digital images, sound and video, groundbreaking web designers are making visually and aurally intensive sites that change our point-and-click expectations of what the web should look like. Here are a few of the websites we think showcased excellent design work this year, both in terms of form and function. 1. 2. U.S. 3. 4. 5. Win an iPad! Wonderwall.
