DIY NS-10 Speakers. DIY NS-10 Speakers It's probably more a sign of being a contrarian than anything, but just when the Yamaha NS-10 was hitting its peak of popularity I was busy messing around with Dynaudio raw drivers.

DIY NS-10 Speakers

Back then they were freely available to the DIY market and I eventually settled on the 17W75XL mid/bass and D-28 AF tweeter in a configuration very similar to that which would later be used in the BM6 passive near-field. For better or worse, that was my "monitor" setup for the next decade or so and like anything I eventually got used to the sound and could make fairly good judgements by them. Once Dynaudio Acoustics entered the "pro" market I was on to the next thing ;) But after reading the SOS article on the NS-10 I thought I should find out what I was missing a couple of decades ago. Used systems often come up for sale, though the condition of the drivers is often unknown and the shipping costs are prohibitive. The inductors appear to be wound on powdered iron cores. NeoLev - tritonaudio

Neolev magnetic levitation dampers are our latest development. Placed under near-field monitors, home stereo speakers, turntables etc., they eliminate acoustic feedback and mechanical distortion to bring out the full potential of your gear. Cancellation of contact induced resonance is very effective as forces perpendicular to the device are stopped from being transferred. Based on two repelling Neodium magnets one single NeoLev lifts up to 8kg. NeoLev's are adjustable to ensure perfect levelling.

About the design and designerby Ralph Calabria Ron Stimpson is a 16-year veteran of the US Army, involved in Military Intelligence. His audio interests stem from the many years of reading audio publications (including Secrets, of course).Like a lot of us, his main impetus to start building subwoofers was the "I-want-it-all-for-almost-nothing" syndrome. Introduction Forget "Got Milk? " Now, even with a good home-built sub, you need power; but used amps like my Soundcraftsmen (model PM 860, 300watts/channel into 4 ohms) are available for $150 or less. When I tallied things up, I was still under budget (and based on advice from Tom Vodhanel, AKA "The Sub Human"), I ended up getting a new ART 351 equalizer to give me more flexibility in tuning the sub in my room.
