Audio - AES/EBU Impedance Transformer. 8 channel 24/192 DAC: The transport question. Hello!

8 channel 24/192 DAC: The transport question

I plan to develop an 8 channel DAC using the Sabre Reference DAC. The design of the DAC brings its own questions: but that's not the point here. The point is: what transport to use for this device? In 8 channel mode, the Sabre - if I understood correctly - needs to be fed by 4 i2s inputs. All right, what can we use beyond this points? - 4 SPDIF/AES to i2s receivers. . - ADAT transmits 8 channels. . . . - Ethersound is a possible way to go, very promising, and I can get in contact with people from AuviTran and DigiGram. . - MADI may be possible: RME has the support for 8 24 bits 192kHz over MADI but there is no information available. LLC - Digital Audio Extender

It supports either S/PDIF or TOSLINK® digital audio signals, which are commonly used to transmit stereo and multichannel digital audio like Dolby Digital® 5.1, DTS, and Dolby® True HD. The Digital Audio Extender uses a Sender and Receiver system connected by a CAT-5e cable to extend the digital audio. How It Works The Digital Audio Extender's Sender unit connects to the audio source component. RME ADI-648 MADI-ADAT Converter. This Multichannel Audio Digital Interface offers format conversion from MADI to ADAT and vice-versa.

RME ADI-648 MADI-ADAT Converter

The RME ADI-648 thus combines the world's most successful multi-channel interface with the professionals' exclusive high-end interface. MADI offers 64 channels of 24 bit audio at up to 48 kHz sample rate, and 32 channels at up to 96 kHz. Transmission happens over a single line, either coaxial (BNC) or fiber optic (network). In both cases the cable length can be more than 100 meters. The MADI channels are transferred from and to 8 ADAT optical inputs and 8 outputs via TOSLINK. Managing long distances with a single cable ADAT breakout box for devices with MADI interface Connecting MADI-based equipment to RME's Hammerfall series ADAT optical patchbay and router MADI coaxial / optical or vice-versa converter and splitter MADI redistributor, patchbay and router The ADI-648 is compatible to all forms of increasing the sample rate (Double Speed).

Solutions

Is an affordable TOSLINK cable extender receiver/ transmitter solution. It enables any optical Adat or SPDIF signal + MIDI to be transported with no latency through a single Cat 5 Network cable for more then 150m (400 ft) in any direction, allows to install AD/DA converters or any other Adat devices far away from its source or target device. ADAT/TOSLINK Extender. ADAT Multicore Extender ADX-32B / ADX-64B-PRO. Still believe digital multicores are expensive?

ADAT Multicore Extender ADX-32B / ADX-64B-PRO

Or proprietary? Think again.... ADX-32B: 4x ADAT and 1x MIDI over Cat5 - up to 330ft./100m With a total capacity of 32 audio channels and MIDI connection over a single Cat5 cable, the ADX-32B is the right choice for building an inexpensive 24/8 multicore. The transmission direction can be set individually for each ADAT channels, and with an extension module, the ADX-32B can be upgraded later to an ADX-64B-PRO if you need more channels. ADX-64B-PRO: 8x ADAT, up to 2x MIDI and wordclock over Cat5 - up to 330ft./100m Our top model combines two ADX-32B in a single case. Monitoring and recording splits included All ADAT input are also looped through to the output jack alongside, often eliminating the need for additional signal splitters for monitoring and recording. Mix & Match DMX transmission (option) On request, the ADX can be modified to include DMX transmission, eliminating the need for a seperate DMX cable run.
