That the hero is disposed of in a way we imagine is glorious or noble doesn’t change the fact that he is fodder.
We reward the hero with our praise and admiration, as we lower him into the ground and go about our untouched, thankfully inconvenienced lives. In a modern context where technology renders the discarding of humans unneeded for collective survival, the obscenity is magnified.
