He works on designs for packaging, logotypes and publishing, but also did numerous commissions of calligraphic works in large sizes on floors and walls for public art exhibitions. He collaborates with museums, organizing exhibitions and doing workshops and seminars. In 2007 he worked with artist/filmmaker Peter Greenaway on the video installation “Peopling the Palace”and he is a member of the “Doigts Noir” (Black Fingers), an international group op calligrapher-artist professionals. Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman from Holland does something called “calligraffiti”. Now, I am not sure what to make of all this, to be quite honest. To me it kind of sort of looks like someone who has had some calligraphy-classes and wasn’t to bad at it, and then decided to make it a lot cooler by suggesting it has something to do with graffiti… Oh well, I guess everybody is allowed to make a living somehow.

Of course, he hated my guts. Said I was the worst pupil he ever had. We had to draw ancient letterforms, following ancient rules. It was all just incredibly boring in my opinion…
