3D Printing Can Turbocharge Mashup Culture

http://torrentfreak.com/3d-printing-can-turbocharge-mashup-culture-130130/ Mashups are one of the great art forms of our time. Although remixes, mashups, sampling, and collage predate the internet by decades (if not centuries), easy, accessible digital tools have allowed anyone to remix videos, music, and photographs into their own original works. Mashup culture has produced fantastic music , critical video , and delightful cultural artifacts of all kinds . However, for all of its successes, mashups are ultimately limited by the nature of their source material.

Poser

Poser is a 3D CGI rendering and animation computer program optimized for models that depict the human figure in three-dimensional form, mostly used to pose and animate the figures in a similar way as a mannequin. The program has gained popularity due to allowing beginners to produce basic animations and digital images, and the extensive availability of third-party digital models. [ edit ] Overview Poser is a 3D rendering software package for the posing, animating and rendering of 3D polymesh human and animal figures.

[ 2 ] 3D printing is considered distinct from traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling ( subtractive processes).

Redux : Lawlolawl Studios

Lawlolawl Redux Posted by Pete on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 · Leave a Comment The previous version of Lawlolawl, which was about the fifth (I’ve lost count at this point), was certainly fancy looking, but it didn’t quite present content in the way that I wanted it to. The vertical post listing was difficult to navigate through, and at some times messy where thumbnails didn’t even appear. So, I began work with a theme that would present games and cartoons in a tile format (now visible at the Toons and Games sections). I’m still working out the kinks (Lawl’d 1 and Rick R’lold do not want to move up to their appropriate slots) and widening the site (adding more pages and navigation links), but because I’m leaving for a four day college excursion thingie, I won’t be immediately around my computer to work with the final touches. http://www.lawlolawl.com/blog/featured/lawlolawl-redux/

http://www.martinlaprise.info/2010/02/28/visualizing-the-lorentz-attractor-with-vtk/ I just finished my nth reading of the James Gleick’s classic Chaos: Making a New Science and I realized that the famous Lorenz attractor should be much more exciting to explore in 3D. So here is a very simple Python code that resolve the nonlinear differential equation describing Lorenz oscillator and show the solution in a 3D phase space with VTK. The coolest think about the Lorenz attractor is the simplicity of it. You can retrieve it simply by resolving those three coupled equations which can be done in 10 line of code ! The rest is just the VTK kitchen sink.
