Optimize Accounts Payable Through Automated Invoice Processing with WebCenter (Oracle WebCenter Blog) Next week Oracle will present a webcast titled Optimize Accounts Payable Through Automated Invoice Processing. In preparation, we will have a couple of posts on the Accounts Payable process, and a couple of posts on customers who have implemented Oracle WebCenter to automate accounts payable. At most organizations, invoices are processed by hand. They arrive in paper format in the mail room, and are routed to the financial department. They are sorted and assigned to clerks who enter the data into the financial system.

The paper invoices are then filed for reference. When an approver wants to look at the invoice to verify information on it, they pull the paper invoice. This can be a little more time consuming, if the approver is at the same location as the invoice. To address this problem, many organizations have moved to imaging invoices. This process still requires getting information from the electronic image into the financial system. Resource kit: Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications (Oracle WebCenter Blog) 318967) Walk-through of domain configuration for Oracle WebCenter 11g: on Windows Server 2008 x64 & MS SQL 2008. Select everything except the WebLogic Advanced Web Services. "You definitely want them to put both UCM and Spaces in the same domain.A domain does not mean that every component is deployed on the same server. You can look at a domain as a collection of servers that need to work together.

Enterprise 2.0 Conference recap (Oracle Enterprise 2.0 Blog) We had a great week in Boston attending the Enterprise 2.0 Conference. We learned a lot from industry thought leaders and had a chance to speak with a lot of different folks about social and collaboration technologies and trends. Of all the conferences we attend, this one definitely has a different “feel”. It seems like the attendees are younger, they dress hipper, and there is much more livelihood all around. A few of the sessions addressed this, as the "millenials" or Generation Y, have been using Web 2.0 tools, such as Facebook and Twitter for many years now, and as they are entering the workforce they are expecting similar tools to be a part of how they accomplish their job tasks.

It's important to note that it's not just Millenials that are expecting these technologies, as workers young and old alike benefit from social and collaboration tools. I’ve highlighted some of the takeaways I had, as well as a reaction from John Brunswick, who helped us in staffing the booth. Install ECM to work with Oracle WebCenter 11g: on Windows Server 2008 x64 & MS SQL 2008. In my previous post on my quest to get Oracle WebCenter Suite up and running, I covered the second step of the "simple" installation topology, WebCenter install tasks , and will now focus on the third step (of eight): Installing other Fusion Middleware Products.

The support documentation instructs that "in addition to WebCenter Spaces, Portlet Producers, Oracle Discussions, and optionally Oracle Universal Content Manager, you can integrate several other WebCenter Web 2.0 Services into your applications. Some WebCenter Web 2.0 Services, such as Documents, rely on back-end components, such as Oracle Content Server. Similarly, Worklist relies on Oracle BPEL Process Manager which is available as part of Oracle SOA Suite.

To integrate such services into your applications, you must install the required back-end components. " Install ECM (Oracle Content Server) - required for Documents? Create the database One database is needed for WebCenter and another for UCM. Customer perspective on Oracle acquiring FatWire. Oracle. Tuning is quite a long and complex subject to be discussed in a single article. This first post will cover 2 basic strategies to make your Oracle WebCenter installation faster by tweaking the browser caching and adding content compression.

By the end of this article your WebCenter pages should be rendering in less than 2 seconds – obviously depending on your environment – and with fewer requests. Browser Caching Your browser has a folder in which certain items that have been downloaded are stored for future access. To reduce latency — Because the request is satisfied from the cache instead of the web server itself, it takes less time for the representation to render in the browser. To reduce network traffic — Since there are less items to be downloaded from a web site, it reduces the amount of bandwidth used by a client. Like in any other application, WebCenter Portal have static resources that need to be cached by the browser in order to reduce subsequent download access. Quick Setup. Oracle San Francisco 2011. It has been quite a while since my initial blog post where I wrote about my interest in learning more about WebCenter Suite. 7 months later I'm finally in possession of those VM's that I've patiently waited for and jumped at the chance to install the latest PS4 version of WebCenter Suite. Having installed more mature portal software from smaller companies (BEA WebLogic, Liferay, Plumtree) I expected to find an elegant installation tool from Oracle's reasonably young WebCenter Suite that would install and configure itself while allowing me to relax and play a quick game of Angry Birds. The "simple" installation topology diagram gave me a little pause, but I knew that my environment met the Fusion system requirements and assumed that a Windows Server/SQL environment would be fairly vanilla and any trouble I encountered would have a solution just a short Google search away.

Oh, and let us not forget the post install steps... Time to get a BIG cup of coffee!!! Windows Server 2008 64bit. Video tutorial: Overview of WebCenter Spaces | Yannick Ongena's Enterprise 2.0 Blog. After starting writing a tutorial for a WebCenter Portal project, I thought it would be a good idea to do the same for WebCenter Spaces. Because WebCenter Spaces is a runtime environment, I had the idea of creating some video tutorials. It's the first time I create video tutorials so be gentle with the comments :) In these first video's, I give a small overview of WebCenter Spaces and the administration section. Following topics are addresses in the video: Part 1:Using the Home SpaceCreating a group spaceEnabling pages on the group spaceManaging the group spacePart 2:Managing the group spaces of the environmentCreating a group space templateAdding users and groups to WebCenter SpacesChanging the login behaviorConfiguring basic settings.

Oracle Universal Installer: Please. I'm running into an issue trying to install WebCenter PS4 where it won't pickup the JRE/JDK. I'm installing on Windows Server 2008 x64, and in compliance with the Fusion spec I've installed JDK SE 6 update 25 for Windows x64. When I start the installer I don't get very far. This is what it says in the command window: Starting Oracle Universal Installer... Checking if CPU speed is above 300 MHz . Actual 3018 MHz Passed Checking swap space: must be greater than 500 MB . Actual 6512 MB Passed Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors Higher than 256 .

I verified the install path of C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24\ then created a JAVA_HOME system variable and set it to: C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24\jre then modified my Path system variable to include: C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24\jre When I tried again I still go nowhere. I've tried to enter the various paths that I think would work (into the command line area) and none have worked. Changing the subscription emails from Collab is super simple and can go a long way in getting users to actually read the emails. I'll admit that after a few years of getting them I've learned to tune out the content once I open a subscription email and see the standard heading it has.

By removing the top table and doing some reformatting the emails can look just like any other email and, fingers crossed, maybe more folks will read them! In the Field: Everything Is Coming Up ACEs! COMMENT: In the Field By Mike Riley Oracle ACE program sponsors independent thinkers and benefits from independent leaders. For several years now, Oracle Development Tools User Group (ODTUG) and its flagship conference, Kaleidoscope (now rebranded Kscope), have hosted one of the Oracle ACE program’s biannual meetings. Let’s take a closer look at the Oracle ACE program and the relationship between the program and ODTUG. What Is the Oracle ACE Program? The Oracle ACE program recognizes individuals for their strong and independent credentials in the Oracle community. Oracle ACE Directors attend detailed briefings at least twice a year with Oracle product managers.

Oracle is to be commended for creating the Oracle ACE program. Why Oracle ACEs, Oracle ACE Directors, and ODTUG? For years now, the ODTUG conference has been known primarily for the quality of its content, and a significant part of that content has been delivered by many Oracle ACEs and Oracle ACE Directors. In looking at a lot of public sites (and a few that are password protected) is that many don't bother to change the out of the box login UI. Recently we turned on our adaptive page layouts, and while they aren't required for creating a custom login page, they do make it very simple. The process involves the following: modifying the loginpagelayout.html file which is located in \ptimages\imageserver\plumtree\portal\private\pagelayoutscreating a web service to point to the custom loginpagelayout fileenabling adaptive layouts for your guest experience definition and selecting your new loginpagelayout file That's it!!!

Depending on how customized your existing login page is, you might also have to change the header/footer associated with the guest login, change the experience definition navigation options to portlet-ready navigation and possibly modify the basepagelayout file. 273423) Oracle WebCenter Interaction: Page Flyout Navigation. The out of the box navigation options bundled with WebCenter Interaction use dated designs and leave something to be desired. Like many other customers, we decided to create a custom navigation when we began implementing our portal in 2005.

We utilized a header based community navigation and a left column page navigation portlet - a design common across many websites. After some time we noticed, through analytics and feedback, that users were struggling with the page navigation. To remedy this problem we decided to redo the typical "My Communities" dropdown navigation so that when a user hovered over a community in the dropdown the pages from that community would "fly-out" to the right. After some searching we settled on the Superfish jQuery plugin which has a pleasing display. The coding wasn't very challenging and required just adding an extra loop in the forEach Community section to gather and display the pages. Lessons Learned: Code: Congrats to Oracle on setting a new world record in TPC-C. TPC-C simulates a complete computing environment where a population of users executes transactions against a database. The benchmark is centered around the principal activities (transactions) of an order-entry environment.

These transactions include entering and delivering orders, recording payments, checking the status of orders, and monitoring the level of stock at the warehouses. While the benchmark portrays the activity of a wholesale supplier, TPC-C is not limited to the activity of any particular business segment, but, rather represents any industry that must manage, sell, or distribute a product or service.[1] They set the record using a Sparc T3-4 server running a whopping 108 processors with 1728 cores, for a gigantic total of 13,824 threads!

The system was equipped with Oracle 11gR2 Database running Oracle's Solaris 10. [2] References: First Steps into Oracle WebCenter 11g: Part 1. Oracle Buys eCommerce Software Giant ATG For $1 Billion.
