Performance driven design & Prototyping. _LuftIllumen© The objective of LuftIllumen© is to provide a modular lighting system to be used for the temporary (rental) market.
The unique characteristic of this project is that each module would consist of a floating lighting element whereas each module would have different apertures to control lighting for each unique situation. Putting them together would form a floating cloud of light, with areas of dense to little light according to the needs of the particular space. The original mock-up plan of each singular module consisted of a lightweight shell/skin/envelope that has specific apertures, on extruded surfaces from a basic icosahedron form, that permits a certain light density to be emitted. Inside the shell a large balloon would be fitted with battery powered LEDs and filled up with helium, making the singular module float in the air.
The elements were created through Autodesk Maya. The second fabrication we had lasercut was a larger element out of five Pulp Boards. DesignStudioM2_Final. A very small village (850 inhabitants) in Burgenland (east of Austria, in the middle of nowhere), called Raiding, happened to have a very famous musician, called Franz Liszt.

Meat Text Effect in Photoshop. Last week I published a tutorial showing how to mix a custom font created in Illustrator with some stock photos of milk to create a nice effect.
Now on this tutorial we will sort of repeat the technique but this time using stock photos of meat and add perspective to create a word made from beefs. Also we will play with blurs to create a depth of field effect. We will use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create the composition also I will be using images from Shutterstock, but feel free to use the stock photos you want. MakeLAB investigates several different themes surrounding the use of digital technologies in design + build scenarios, working in separate groups of 4-8 participants in parallel. Each team will explore an integrated scenario that includes information gathering, generative design, and construction using custom devices and a specifically developed material system. Each group is led by two or three tutors who have specialised experience with customised fabrication devices and software tools, and will aim to complete a project at 1:1 scale that serves as ‘proof of concept’ for the overall approach. The workshop is organised in three quick and consecutive phases, each phase ending with a short round of presentations to the entire group, intended to allow for the sharing and discussion of ideas between all participants.
