PARAMETRI-CITIES: Amman : CEED Studio PARAMETRI-CITIES: Amman : CEED Studio During the digital archaeology phase of the project I focused on Petra. Specifically the Siq and the tomb carvings. I looked into the effects of man on the natural landscape, particularly over time and the relationship man forms with his environment. What was of interest to me was the power relationship between the two : WJT. Mitchels ‘Landscape and Power’ informed much of this.
Four graduates from the MArch Design Research Laboratory course at the Architectural Association in London have sent us these images of their thesis project, a conceptual proposal for an environment to host Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. Called Braided Urbanism, the group project was carried out by Renata Paim Tourinho Dantas from Brazil, Anna Papachristoforou from Cyprus, Irene Guerra from Spain and Julia Cano from Colombia. Présentation Finale Présentation Finale vise à développer une compréhension générale du conflit spatiale du Bois de Vincennes par la construction d'une bibliothèque collective de diagrammes (grilles, infrastructures, circulations, tissus urbains), pour ensuite se concentrer sur des possibilités spécifiques à la construction d’hypothèses et d’une stratégie individuelle. Ces processus démographiques sont simulés en une série de diagrammes dans un domaine de performance, permettant de reconnaître déséquilibres, tendances et types de développement. Le projet se réfère à des techniques cherchant l’intégration des components urbains qui varient infrastructure, espace public et services publiques.
Ce projet vise à matérialiser ce que nous appelons ‘intangible’. Nous avons évité d’utiliser des typologies familières prenant certaines choses pour acquises comme des maisons, chambres, fenêtres, toitures, etc. Bien au contraire, Sensational Urbanism constitue les fonctions de territorialisation, emboitant et interfaçant par des nouvelles évocations de limites, domaines, surfaces et volumes. Le site (Porte de la Chapelle) a été confronté à une composition abstraite qui donne sens à une nouvelle typologie. Articulated Landscapes vise en une série de structures de connections, d'usages et performances divers, tels que promenades et sentiers pédestres flottants, reliant les deux rives du fleuve en un maillage adapté. Ce maillage engage diverses couches entre elles et génère préservation et sensibilisation aux cycles naturels locaux tels les variations de marées ou des scénarios d'inondations. Une série de typologies architecturales répartie sur le master plan génère plusieurs réseaux à différents niveaux: étangs, jardins flottants, espace public, et tissu urbain. Londres accueillera les Jeux Olympiques en 2012 – une ville de 12 millions de personnes avec d'importantes questions de transport et des trajets de longues distances croissants.
