It explores the history of the French presence in North America from the first decades of the 16th century to the end of the 19th century. Through direct digital access to complete books, maps, prints, and other documents from the collections of the partner libraries, the project illuminates two major themes in the history of relations between France and the United States: the role played by France in the exploration and settlement of the continent and its participation in several events which indelibly marked the history of the United States: the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and the Louisiana Purchase. The Library of Congress and the Bibliothèque nationale de France present these documents as part of the record of the past.

Le service de l’état civil (registro civil) a été crée en 1870, les actes sont à demander au juge municipal dans les villages au juge de première instance dans les villes Extraits et copies sont délivrés gratuitement. Vous y trouverez : les registres de naissances, de mariages et de décès, les registres de tutelles et de représentations légales. Les mentions marginales existent pour les actes de naissance et de mariage.
Si les registres d’état civil ont été détruits du fait de la guerre, il a été dressé un certificato negativo de nacimiento. Les municipalités conservent et tiennent les registres municipaux où tous les citoyens sont inscrits, ces registres sont renouvelés tous les cinq ans, lors des années se terminant par 1 ou 6. Les plus anciens recensements sont conservés aux archives régionales.
