Blog » Make a Mac (Media) Server. Since I recently stopped using an old and dented Macbook Pro that was otherwise perfectly working as a computer, I tweeted about having turned it into a media, file, and Bittorrent server. I got a lot of responses asking for my setup, so here’s a guide for turning a Mac that would otherwise gather dust in disuse into a useful server. My primary demands were gathering content from the internet through FTP and Bittorrent, serving them up to the Macs and Playstation 3 on the network through streaming, and function as a secure public-facing server so I can log in and grab some files when I’m on the go. I’ve divided this post into three sections, dealing with getting stuff, serving up stuff, and all the nice other things you can do with an always-on Mac. Note: I will not be liable if you melt, damage, or hurt your old Mac in the process of following this guide.

O Quick Look for Illustrator Files mostra apenas um preview de arquivos de Illustrator que foram salvos com compatibilidade para PDF. Não é tão completo como o SneakPeek, mas já dá um ajudinha! E o mais legal é que ambos são free! O limpar o Lixo (Trash) do Mac OS X. — Pô, mas é tão difícil assim? Achei que era só clicar com o botão direito do mouse no ícone do Lixo e mandar limpá-lo! Calma, jovem Padawan.
Se você nunca recebeu uma mensagem de erro ao tentar limpar o Lixo no Mac OS X, levante as mãos para o céu e guarde o link deste artigo. Um dia ele pode ser útil. Em vias de esclarecimento, é bom que todos saibam que o Mac OS X trabalha com pastas invisíveis do Lixo por usuário e por volume. Isso significa que cada usuário da máquina pode ter arquivos distintos no Lixo, assim como cada volume externo que você conecte ao Mac — seja HD, iPod ou pendrive. Uma das mensagens de erro mais comuns de usuários com problemas ao limpar o Lixo é algo do tipo: “The operation could not be completed because the item XYZ is locked.”

Probably the biggest complaint about Leopard is the new dock. Color It! Do you like the shiny dock, but does it just not go well with your wallpaper? Theme it! Don’t like the shiny, glossy look of the dock, no matter what color? Triangulize it! Get rid of those glowing blue indicators at the bottom of your dock, and replace them with the classic Mac OS X triangle. Hide it! Stacks Do they increase or decrease clutter? Overlay it! Donate Now A very welcome new feature in Leopard is the ability to view fonts directly in the finder (Yay!). You can get a full-alphabet-preview in two places: Column view, and Quick Look. The rest of the views display an icon with the letters “Ag.” Hitting spacebar from any view will give you and alphabet preview (in Quick Look).
