Recording Moments Along the Streets of Lisbon. Photographer Rui Palha’s black and white portfolio of Street Moments takes you on a journey into an inspirational new world. Palha believes that photography is the practice of being in the streets, of learning and capturing, giving flow to what the heart feels. He says, “Why black and white? Because if you are photographing in color you show the color of the clothes. If you use black and white you will show the color of the soul.” In his book called Street Photography, Palha tells the stories of his everyday experiences along the streets of Lisbon.

In the book, he references a very significant photojournalist when he writes, “A very special [Robert] Capa quote that I try to follow in photography: ‘If your pictures aren’t good enough, you aren’t close enough.’” Rui Palha’s website via [Illusion 360], [Smashing Magazine] Digital Cobwebs Magnificently Beautify Nature. Russian graphic designer and illustrator Tatiana Plakhova enjoys combining art and science. We were blown away by her futuristic vector illustrations here, and this time she charms us with her series entitled Biosphere. In the collection of images, Plakhova combines photographs with her signature, illustrated patterns.

The overlapping layers of natural, brilliant sunshine and vibrant colors, combined with elaborate, cobweb-like patterns seem to come alive on the page. Viewers will immediately feel consumed by the breathtaking scenes. Plakhova intertwines reality-based photographs with a fabricated, complex network of dots and lines to create a new reality for her viewers. She says, “Chaos has its own structure, and each structure contains chaos. Tatiana Plakhova’s website via [BooksPaperScissors], [Satellite Voices] Henrique Plantikow Photography. Gracefully Submerged in Water. New York-raised, London-based photographer Jacob Sutton is probably best known for his fashion photography or his directorial stint in a video of a snowboarder surfing at night with a custom LED suit on. Every medium the artist works in depicts his touch of haunting beauty. Sutton's photo series known as Underwater Girl is equally stirring. The series, thus far, consists of three black and white portraits of a girl submerged in water.

So much of the frame is covered in a mist of white and light grays that it heightens the feeling of being immersed in water. While two the images appear mystical in their haziness, making it somewhat unclear that the images are underwater, there is one with a single tiny air bubble floating just a few inches away from the model's lips that reveal the true setting. Robert DeNiro Some of Hollywood's most revered celebrities are letting every blemish and wrinkle shine in these photographs by London and New York-based photographer Andy Gotts.

Known for his portraits of the stars, Gotts has been photographing celebrities for more than twenty years. He travels alone, bringing along no assistants, stylists, or other distractions, and captures a raw intimacy in each image due to the time spent with his subjects. His first book, Degrees, featured more than 100 famous actors and singers and raised about three million pounds for diabetes research. Now, this most recent project iCons will generate funds for Sir Elton John’s AIDS charity. From Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and Clint Eastwood to 1940’s leading lady Lauren Bacall, Gotts has turned our favorite memories of Hollywood into legendary photographs.

Russian photographer Alexander Safonov takes amazing underwater images most us could only dream about. A professional software architect by trade, Safonov got his diving license in 2002 and began to experiment with underwater photography in 2004.

He currently resides in Hong Kong, where he's been for the past 13 years. "Sharks are my favorite animals, as they are a combination of beauty and danger," says Safonov. "I have dived in numerous locations around the world, but my favorite is the South African Wild Coast, where I got the best dives of my life during the annual Sardine Run phenomena. For photographers looking for close encounters with predators, bait balls are the one of the best options, as on single dive it’s possible to see more predators than the average diver sees during their lifetime! Among my other favorite destinations are Cocos Island, Fiji, Galapagos and Raja Ampat. " Alexander Safonov's website. Living on the Edge. It was only 18 months ago that Russian Marat Dupri bought a Canon camera.

In his quest to take extraordinary shots, the 19-year-old and his friends travel to the peak of Moscow's tallest structures, often having to sneak past security guards. To capture these nerve-wracking shots, they carefully walk around the edges of these buildings, completely unharnessed. "When I am on the roof, I have a feeling that the whole world is by my feet," says Dupri. "All my problems and trouble are left somewhere down. The height exhilarates me. "I've taken pictures from a 270 meter high radio mast that was still in use. I got a huge adrenaline rush from taking the pictures, but I had a severe headache for several days after - I think it was from radiation. Sacha Goldberger just sent word about his new series for So Chic magazine that's based on the theme: Back to the Future.

Notice the retro elements - the cars, the hairstyles, and the poses - but also notice the way he's made each model appear timeless. Though the cover shows the date of January 1964, the spread appears undeniably crisp, fresh and even classic. What went into recreating the 1960's? "I did a lot of research," Goldberger told us. "I bought a few magazines from the 60's and looked at the type of light, the poses and the models. After, with my team, we tried to get as close as possible to the references we had.
