How cool are these retro posters of a future airline to Mars? The rocket is called MarsUnited and the idea was conjured up by Andy Rohr, a Chicago-based artist, illustrator and graphic designer, whose illustrations pop with color! Even love the clever logo. Rohr wanted to make four posters that showed a rocket taking off from Earth and landing on Mars in four different but similar styles. "I wanted the posters to have a 'retro future' quality to give a sense of nostalgia for something that has yet to happen," he tells us. Italian street artist Blu is no stranger to controversy. In fact, you may remember his mural at the MOCA that was taken down. In an area of downtown that neighbors a Veterans Affairs hospital and a war memorial to Japanese American soldiers, the provocative anti-war piece showed coffins draped with dollar bills instead of flags. Now in his home country, Blu is shaking things up once again. This mural was put up at the Draw The Line Festival in Campobasso, Italy. Hands are seen removing the brain from a soldier's head, representing how governments are notorious for brainwashing their military.
Blu has never been shy when it comes to sharing his feelings about war. Blu's website via [Arrested Motion] Enchanting Fairytale World. Self-taught Australian artist Courtney Brims creates lovely and enchanting illustrations made of colored pencils and graphite. Her seemingly odd yet soft portraits are set against white backgrounds, making her dark drawings stand out even more. Her subjects seem caught in moments of wonder while being surrounded by absurdities. Brims balances the black and white portraits with splashes of color, allowing for beautifully moving works of art.

As the train moves slowly along its route, small and large objects are projected onto the walls and ceiling. Due to the movement of the light source, the shadows of the stationary objects appear to move, leaving viewers with the impression that they are passengers riding on the train (watch video, below). The Tenth Sentiment is the creation of Japanese artist Ryota Kuwakubo.
The installation was exhibited at the NTT InterCommunication Center, an innovative cultural facility in Tokyo. For over two decades, Kuwakubo has been creating works using mainly electronics based on a theme of relationships formed across various boundaries, such as "analog and digital, humans and machines, and information transmitters and receivers. New Works Inside Audrey Kawasaki's Studio. My Modern Met favorite Audrey Kawasaki is back with array of beautiful new work. White Cube Huxton Square in London is presenting Variants, an exhibition that will showcase five animations by the talented artist.
Taking the chair design of Dutch furniture designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld as a starting point, Rhode will turn the chair into everything from a crime scene accomplice to a performance prop. In addition to his animations, you'll also see two new series of black and white photographs inspired by the French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal. (Remember Pascal's triangle?) Robin Rhode is known to embrace a variety of media include photography, drawing, animation, performance and sculpture. As White Cube states, "While his work calls to mind early silent film, stop-start animation and flip books, Rhode’s alter ego – a recurring feature – evokes a character from nineteenth and early twentieth-century American minstrel shows and the exploits of Buster Keaton.

Sexy and Seductive Faces. Belgium-born artist Anja Van Herle is the person behind sexy and seductive paintings. Currently based in Los Angeles, the artist has the ability to bring her European sense of high fashion together with an American sense of wonder to create beautiful works that explore issues like identity, emotion and human relationships. "My work is an attempt to capture the complexity of emotions that are conveyed in the human face," she says. "I've been painting portraits since I was a child, continually drawing closer to the face and eyes in order to explore the emotions they contain.
There's a story behind every face; my paintings are an attempt to tell these stories by capturing delicate facial expressions and juxtaposing them with vibrant color and the dramatic interplay of shadow and light that both inform my subjects and maintain their enigmatic aura.
