It's based on FBS design ontology and FBS protocol coding scheme. This coding scheme is a principled ontological method that is applicable to design protocols independent of their domains and subjects. The universality of FBS coding scheme made it possible to develop LINKOgrapher as a standardised tool which is usable in different research scenarios. In the field of design cognition, different measurement methods have been developed to analyse a coded design protocol. Dynamic entropy, first and second order Markov models, first passage time and dynamic models of issues and processes are among these analysis methods. In addition to calculations, LINKOgrapher draws the linkograph which is a web of conceptually connected segments.
In order to capture the dynamic nature of designing, LINKOgrapher treats the coded protocols using three additional approaches: fractioning, windowing and trimming.
