Windows Metafile. Windows Metafile (WMF) is an image file format originally designed for Microsoft Windows in the 1990s.

Windows Metafile

Windows Metafiles are intended to be portable between applications and may contain both vector graphics and bitmap components. It acts in a similar manner to SVG files. WMF is a 16-bit format introduced in Windows 3.0. It is the native vector format for Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher. As of 2015[update] revision 12 of the Windows Metafile Format specification is available for online reading or download as PDF.[1] Specifications and patents[edit] The original 16 bit WMF file format was fully specified in volume 4 of the 1992 Windows 3.1 SDK documentation[3] (at least if combined with the descriptions of the individual functions and structures in the other volumes), but that specification was vague about a few details.

Variants[edit] With the release of Windows XP, the Enhanced Metafile Format Plus Extensions (EMF+) format was introduced. Significato dell'acronimo WDF. WYSIWYG. WYSIWYG (/ˈwɪziwɪɡ/ WIZ-ee-wig)[1] is an acronym for "What You See Is What You Get".

WYSIWYG

In computing, a WYSIWYG editor is a system in which content (text and graphics) onscreen during editing appears in a form closely corresponding to its appearance when printed or displayed as a finished product,[2] which might be a printed document, web page, or slide presentation. Meaning[edit] The program on the left uses a WYSIWYG editor to produce a Lorem Ipsum document. The program on the right contains LaTeX code, which when compiled will produce a document that will look very similar to the document on the left. Compilation of formatting code is not a WYSIWYG process. WYSIWYG implies a user interface that allows the user to view something very similar to the end result while the document is being created.

WHQL
