Montanaman. Games | Profile | dave_au. I started out with games playing Go. A while after that I heard about Set and got myself a copy, and it was a hit with my girlfriend, my family and my friends. Sometime after that I saw a list of boardgames on a website that I frequented, which listed Go along with Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico and a handful of other games. Then I ran into another list on another site, and then another. This happened over the course of about a year, after which I started doing some research which very quickly led me to BGG. I read a large number of reviews and eventually ordered Carcassonne and Puerto Rico.

I've recently gotten into BSW and other avenues for online games - as well as being a great way to play some games with friends and family from all over the place it's also helped guide some of my purchasing decisions. I moved to Brisbane in late 2009, and have started going along to the Critical Mass and LXG gatherings, which are awesome. Ozboy. Ianjohn. Ozvortex. Through sheer stupidity I sold most of my games. In 1998, I moved to New Zealand and took up the hobby again when my son got old enough to play. I'm attracted mostly to game theme, the narrative aspect and the social interaction, rather than being very competitive. As I play more, I become clearer about my own tastes and realise that BGG rankings don't mean a hell of a lot to me. I do business writing for a living and write fiction for fun. Peter Palmer.
