Most of the interviews in the story were conducted last year on the set of the film in Cardington, England. I have also included a bit of video that shows my on-stage interview with Nolan and Emma Thomas, his producing partner and wife, at last weekend’s WonderCon in San Francisco. July is the month when movies gets dizzy (or is it ditsy?) From the heat, and this year is no exception, with films featuring heartthrob vampires, evil aliens, Nicolas Cage and the never-gets-old concept of talking dogs. But on July 16, in the middle of the usual popcorn parade, director Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. will deliver “Inception,” a strange thriller that has been a Hollywood mystery for months thanks to its cryptic title and the fact that the studio has guarded the Nolan-penned script like a state secret. – Geoff Boucher.

Inception is quite possibly the most anticipated movie of the year and hits UK cinemas 16th July.
The hype is mainly due to the man behind the camera, Christopher Nolan who is responsible for one of the highest grossing movies of all time, The Dark Knight. But yes, for those who haven’t seen Inception yet: First off, do so, because it’s a blast and definitely a “worth seeing in the theaters” pic with all the collapsing cities-type effects and such. Secondly, avert your eye, because I wanna talk about that last scene. My first reaction when the movie ended and that damn top was still spinning was a chuckle (most every one else in my theater seemed to prefer a groan). What a pain in the ass, I thought lovingly of director Chris Nolan, for teasing us. I mean, OF COURSE Leo’s character got home. But as I got up to leave the theater, I realized I wasn’t going to be able to stick with that explanation for long. What’s more, Cobb didn’t even wait around to see for himself if his totem would fall. Inception 2? Just Say No To Sequel Rumors.
There’s no way in the world Inception will ever get a sequel. You’re going to hear a lot of talk about the possibility of Inception 2. In fact at one point rumor had it that Chris Nolan would begin shooting Inception 2 after completing The Dark Knight Rises. That never happened, and it never will. Inception 2 is an idea which will never even be considered, let alone actually get done. Christopher Nolan is too smart to permit it. The Inception story, in spite of the much discussed cliffhanger at the end, is clearly intended as a single, self-contained film. Comme beaucoup d’entre vous petits pandas, je suis allé voir Inception cette semaine.
Je ne vous donnerai pas mon avis sur le contenu du film car ce n’est vraiment pas le but de mon article. « C’est bon les gars, on a pied » Je reviendrai uniquement sur un aspect du film qui m’a intrigué : la place de la France. Plusieurs fois le film évoque la France : la femme du héros est française1, les deux scènes parisiennes sont effectivement tournées à Paris et non dans des décors approximatifs avec des accordéonistes à béret, et l’architecte recrutée par DiCaprio est « française » (en vraie canadienne, c’est Ellen Page, mais bon).
