More than quick sketches and drawings, Moleskine art can encompass mixed media and even digital art. The imperfect lines, smudges and wrinkles give it dimension and raw honesty that more than ever are sought by digital artists and implemented in software. Regardless of any advancement in technology, pen and paper will always be the number once choice for any budding artist or seasoned illustrator. No theme or medium is ever neglected for the Moleskine treatment if the mood strikes the artist, spawning art like no other.

Cyril Rolando is a 24 year old artist from Paris, France. A clinician psychologist by trade, he also draws for fun, focusing primarily on the human emotions. Despite never attending art school, Cyril’s work shines through as creative and surreal. His inspiration comes from his experiences as a psychologist, and from Time Burton and Hayao Miyazaki. About his artwork, he writes “This is a return to childhood, where animals can speak, dreams become reality and imagination rules the world.” In this post, we’ll look at 40 creative, interesting, weird and bizarre paintings from Cyril.

Audrey Kawasaki just released some in-progress teaser pics of her preparing for her first solo show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in NY this coming Saturday. The show title Hajimari means beginning in Japanese, and is a word often used in the introduction of a story. Not only am I in awe at how breathtakingly beautiful her new work is, I love how Audrey has given us an intimate look at her workspace. Seeing her tools, her cat perched precariously on top of her green chair and her little knick knacks that surround her, we start to see a more complete picture of the artist. Also, I love how immersed Audrey looks in those JVC headphones! Now, just what could she be listening to?
