10 things about me and my art - Farlow Studios

http://www.farlowstudios.com/2006/08/10-things-about-me-and-my-art/ This was first posted in my journal in DeviantArt, when fellow deviant Dualmask asked me to list 10 things about how I feel about my images and drawings. I made the list to be sort of a retrospective look into my journey into learning drawing. So here we go: Some of you I may have already told, but most seem to not believe me when I say “I never took one formal art lesson in my life”. Formal as in sitting down with an art teacher or an art tutor and instructing me to hold my pencil this way, to hold the paper that way, or or to look at light and shadow this way or that. The first ever character I drew when I was 4 years old was Superman, and my parents, uncles and aunts often told me (coz I can’t remember it now) that I can draw the Man of Steel almost proportional starting always with the right foot.

More than quick sketches and drawings, Moleskine art can encompass mixed media and even digital art. The imperfect lines, smudges and wrinkles give it dimension and raw honesty that more than ever are sought by digital artists and implemented in software. Regardless of any advancement in technology, pen and paper will always be the number once choice for any budding artist or seasoned illustrator. No theme or medium is ever neglected for the Moleskine treatment if the mood strikes the artist, spawning art like no other. http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/10/22/moleskine-art-beautiful-examples-and-talented-artists/

Cyril Rolando is a 24 year old artist from Paris, France. A clinician psychologist by trade, he also draws for fun, focusing primarily on the human emotions. Despite never attending art school, Cyril’s work shines through as creative and surreal. His inspiration comes from his experiences as a psychologist, and from Time Burton and Hayao Miyazaki. About his artwork, he writes “This is a return to childhood, where animals can speak, dreams become reality and imagination rules the world.” In this post, we’ll look at 40 creative, interesting, weird and bizarre paintings from Cyril. http://www.presidiacreative.com/40-creative-and-bizarre-surreal-paintings-by-cyril-rolando/

Audrey Kawasaki just released some in-progress teaser pics of her preparing for her first solo show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in NY this coming Saturday. The show title Hajimari means beginning in Japanese, and is a word often used in the introduction of a story. Not only am I in awe at how breathtakingly beautiful her new work is, I love how Audrey has given us an intimate look at her workspace. Seeing her tools, her cat perched precariously on top of her green chair and her little knick knacks that surround her, we start to see a more complete picture of the artist. Also, I love how immersed Audrey looks in those JVC headphones! Now, just what could she be listening to? http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/audrey-kawasakis-creative

List of colors

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors:_A-M The following is a list of colors . A number of the color swatches below are taken from domain-specific naming schemes such as X11 or HTML4 . RGB values are given for each swatch because such standards are defined in terms of the sRGB color space . It is not possible to accurately convert many of these swatches to CMYK values because of the differing gamuts of the two spaces, but the color management systems built into operating systems and image editing software attempt such conversions as accurately as possible. The HSV (hue, saturation, value) color space values, also known as HSB (hue, saturation, brightness), and the hex triplets (for HTML web colors ) are also given in the following table. Colors that appear on the web-safe color palette—which includes the sixteen named colors —are noted. [ 1 ] (Those four named colors corresponding to the neutral grays have no hue value, which is effectively ignored—i.e., left blank.)
