Untitled. What is a Cafe Latte? Greg Suekoff: My name is Greg Suekoff and we are here at the Caffe Pronto Coffee Roastery and I am here showing you how to make the perfect latte. Right now, I would like to talk a little bit about the ingredients in a Caffe Latte and what makes a Latte different from other espresso based drinks. The main difference between a latte and say a Cappuccino or a Macchiato is the amount of coffee and milk ratio. In a Macchiato, we have a very small amount of milk, it tends to be a 1:1 ratio of espresso to milk.

A Cappucino has a 3:1 ratio of milk to espresso and a Latte has a 4:1 ratio. While these drinks share the same ingredients, which are espresso and milk, the way they are assembled are slightly different. Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt. Sound Bites. Growing up in the late '70s/ early '80s, I spent a lot of time in the car with my parents and the only radio station we could ever agree on was WRON in my hometown of Lewisburg, WV. The FM station was easy listening (way more horrible than the Lite FMs of today) and it's AM version which played the hits. And at the time, the hits were all pretty mellow. Barry Gibb was writing for everyone, the Doobie Brothers were huge, "You Light Up My Life" was unavoidable, and the Little River Band was the WV-approved version of Steely Dan. Despite the path my musical taste has taken since, I still have a soft spot for soft rock.

(Yes, I own England Dan & John Ford Coley's Nights Are Forever on vinyl.) And I like it when current bands manage to appropriate the better aspects of that time (strong melody and musicianship) into something a little less cheesy. One of the best is Nashville's Silver Seas, the brainchild of Jason Dehming. MP3: The Silver Seas - The Best Things in Life.
