This One Amazing Animated Chart Shows How Babies Are Really Made. Molecular biologist, designer, and artist Eleanor Lutz has a knack for creating remarkably educating GIFs. This renaissance woman recently used her unique combination of skills to stitch together 396 sketches of a human baby growing during pregnancy. Her animation presents perhaps the easiest explanation for adults to understand how babies are made...and maybe helps their questioning kiddos, too.

(via 22 Words) The bottom of the image provides a wealth of scientific information for inquisitive minds. The images here truly do say a thousand words. Now, I know what to refer my future child to when they ask how babies are made. Apparently, zero storks are involved. Learn muscle anatomy | The Visible Body Blog. Learn Muscle Anatomy: Muscles of Mastication Learn Muscle Anatomy: Mastication You know what I really enjoy? Eating. Not just food itself, but the actual act of chewing something. Gum, steak tips, cake, one of those ginormous blueberry muffins from from the donut shop up the street—anything, really. I love working the muscles in my jaw in the act of mastication, or to reduce something to a pulp by crushing or kneading it with my teeth. Whenever you see a description of chewing or eating, it's always the jaw that's mentioned.

Deep Muscles of Mastication I'm going to work from the inside out. Mandible elevation involves both muscles working to bring the mandible back up toward the maxillae. Superficial Muscles of Mastication The superficial muscles group is comprised of three muscles: the medial pterygoid, lateral pterygoid (superior and inferior heads), and superficial masseter. Have you ever thrust your jaw out so your bottom teeth stick out in order to look like a bulldog? Related Posts. Science & Nature - Human Body and Mind - Body - Brain Map. Kako radi srce?

Gornje komore zovemo pretklijetkama – atrijima, a donje zovemo klijetkama – ventrikulama. Srčana pregrada ili septum odvaja lijevu i desnu stranu srca. Prvo nečista krv, odnosno krv siromašna kisikom i bogata ugljičnim dioksidom ulazi u desnu pretklijetku kroz donju šuplju venu (dovodi krv iz donjeg dijela tijela) i gornju šuplju venu (dovodi krv iz gornjeg dijela tijela). Potom plućna vena prenosi kisikom obogaćenu krv do lijeve strane srca.

Anatomy and Physiology: The Anatomy of Vision. Anatomy and Physiology: The Anatomy of Vision You open your eyes and see the world, but are you conscious of the fact that you are doing so? You saw a link, clicked on it, and now you're reading this blog post. Hello, reader. I like your shirt. Your hair looks really good, too. That you've interpreted what you just saw and have taken it as a compliment is an example of visualization, a.k.a.

"Hurrah! Visualization is something we take for granted. It's not just your eyes involved in visualization. Orbits (Eyesockets) Like most structures in the body, the orbits of the skull do more than one job. The orbits are made up of the frontal, maxilla, lacrimal, zygomatic, palatine, sphenoid, and ethmoid bones. The eyes are comprised of delicate materials, but are relatively strong (think of anyone who's ever been punched in the eye—the skin around the orbit will bruise, but the eye itself is usually okay). Extraocular Muscles Did you know that your eyes move over 100,000 times a day? Eyes Sources: Anatomy and Physiology: Internal Male Reproductive Anatomy. Anatomy and Physiology: Internal Male Reproductive Anatomy Aaaaand, here we are with part two.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the first one (thanks for the comments!) ; hopefully y'all walked away with a little extra knowledge. Or an image of a uterus as a kung-fu master stuck in your mind. Either way, mission accomplished. While I don't have anything to match up to the kung-fu thing, I do have a sort of game we can play. Game faces on? The prostate, or turn your head and cough If you honestly think I wasn't going to slip in a clichéd joke somewhere in this post, then you haven't been paying attention. It seems the only time you ever hear anyone talk about the prostate is in conjunction with cancer, which is morbid and kind of telling about our society these days (we're all a bunch of Debbie-downers).

The prostate is a firm muscular gland about the size of a chestnut, located around the internal opening of the urethra and situated in the pelvic cavity. How am I doing so far? Want to see more? Anatomy and Physiology: The 3D Human Brain. Anatomy and Physiology: The 3D Human Brain I've been told I have a weird way of looking at the body.

I've likened the digestive system to a train route, the heart to a machine, and now I'm about to throw a bunch of computer jargon at you for the brain. Think of your body as a computer. Mac or PC—doesn't matter. If you have 3D Human Anatomy Atlas, feel free to call up the 3D brain model and follow along! Muscles of Expression Every time you smile, frown, laugh, cry, or clench your teeth in anger, you are expressing an emotion. The muscles of expression allow you to show your emotions. When you laugh at a joke or cry during a sad movie, your brain interprets these emotions and uses your muscles to express them. Cerebral Arterial Circle: Circle of Willis Okay, so we peel back the cover of the computer (a.k.a., everything on the outside) and begin our descent.

Blood supply to the body's organs is obviously important, but blood supply to the brain is super important. Here we go. Want to see more?
