The set is an extension of Mark James's Silk icons —probably the most widely used set of icons on the web—that incorporates metaphors for spatial constructs defined by Jody Garnett's uDig icons . Le numérique n’a pas remis en question la puissance des cartes comme support de représentation de l’information géographique ou géolocalisée. Au contraire, avec l’interactivité, il leur a apporté une dimension supplémentaire qui a encore accru leur intérêt et fait apparaître de nouveaux usages. Sur le Web, les cartes sont maintenant des éléments communs de l’expérience de navigation, rencontrées dans une multitude de contextes. Les cartographes considèrent comme vertus cardinales la lisibilité et la pertinence de l’information portée par une carte, sans négliger son aspect esthétique.
La carte d’un monde divisé en sept
Quand j’ai crée ce site, c’était entre autre pour pouvoir donner une autre vision du monde. C’est chose faite avec cette carte, qui divise notre planète monde en sept régions de un milliard d’habitants chacune . Pour ceux qui vivent dans une grotte, sept milliards, c’est la population totale de la planète (à quelques centaines de milliers près) En vert le « nouveau monde » , une Amérique au sens large, qui regroupe celles du nord, du centre, et du sud. On y rajoute les australiens, parce qu’ils ont beau avoir un grand pays, ils sont loin d’êtres serrés. Les brésil et les USA ajoutés forment la moitié de la population de cette région imaginaire.

Des guirlandes en cartes de géographie, un projet créatif de salt labs sur Poppytalk J’avais présenté, il y a quelques temps, des chambres d’enfants ayant pour thème la géographie . Mais les cartes, plans et planisphères en papier se prêtent également aux projets créatifs les plus divers. Parfait pour recycler la documentation utilisée pendant les vacances, de retour à la maison. Une agréable façon de se rappeler les bons souvenirs avec ses propres créations DIY ^-^
