Make Healthy Living Fun & Social. Jawbone Releases UP, A Wristband For Tracking Your Wellness. "People know more about their iPhone than they do their own health," points out Travis Bogard, Jawbone’s VP of product development.
"So how do we make them consumers of their own wellness? " Today Jawbone is finally unwrapping their attempt to solve the problem: The UP, a $100 wristband, smartphone app, and web app trio that work together to monitor your exercise habits, sleep cycles, and eating decisions. It’s already on sale on Jawbone’s website; on November 6th, it’ll be available at Apple, Target, AT&T stores, and Best Buy. The product represents a massive investment for the company, and a potential turning point for it as well: Armed with a whopping $120 million in venture capital raised in just the last year, UP is intended to put Jawbone squarely within the $52 billion weight loss market and the $24 billion sleep-aid market. Jawbone hopes the device will become as ubiquitous as its famed headsets.
The cleverest features, however, are a bit more subtle. Path And Jawbone UP Should Band Together. If you are lucky enough to own one of the Jawbone UP bracelets that doesn’t have issues, then you’re probably pretty psyched at the potential the simple and streamlined life-tracking device holds.
You know what else is psyching me up right now? The UP bracelet progresses mobile life-tracking . But it is early early days. Nike Officially Announces The Nike+ FuelBand. Exercise gadgetry seems to be all the rage this season, with products like the Jawbone UP and MotoACTV entering the marketplace.
Nike of all companies will certainly not be left behind, and has today announced a new wristband called the FuelBand. Not unlike its competitors, the FuelBand measures time, steps and calories during your fitness routine. It’s incredibly similar to the Jawbone UP, as its a fitness tracking wrist band. The most poignant difference is that Nike’s FuelBand measures something called NikeFuel — a measurement of your wrist movement.
Nike claims that “the more you move, the more NikeFuel you earn,” according to Business Insider. The FuelBand can either sync to your PC through a USB connection or via Bluetooth to an iPhone app. We haven’t seen the MotoACTV gain a whole lot of traction thus far, and we all remember what a failure the Jawbone UP was.
