ADVICE. 13 Things I Would Tell Church Planters. 13 Things I Would Tell Church Planters Perry Noble One of the most frequent questions I receive is, “If you could tell a church planter one thing, what would it be?” I’ve thought about that question…and honestly, I can’t come up with just one thing because the world of church planting is complex. So, I made a list of several things…so here’s what I would say to someone who is considering planting a church… #1 - You are going to have to take huge steps of faith to see the dream God has placed inside of you become a reality.
Church planters that pray but refuse to take action never actually do what God has called them do to…and they wind up bitter at God because they prayed for things that God was more than willing to do if they had just acted on what they were praying for! #2 - You are going to have lots of doubters when you share your vision with people…especially churchy people! #3 - One of the biggest doubters you will encounter from time to time is yourself! You are going to lose people. 10 Painful Lessons from the Early Days of Mars Hill Church. This week, we launched our new sermon series at Mars Hill Church, “God’s Work, Our Witness,” which is a kind of documentary-meets-reality-TV-show-meets-sermon experience that looks back over the history of the church and reflects on the amazing work God has done over the last 15 years. On Sunday, we showed the hour-long documentary, shot and edited by our amazing creative guys, which shared the story of God’s faithfulness in the early days of Mars Hill.
In the coming weeks for this series, we’ll show videos of sermons preached at various Mars Hill churches on four defining values of our church: gospel-centered theology, complementarian relationships, Spirit-filled lives, and missional churches. As I prepared for this series, I’ve done a lot of revisiting of the past, and it has been amazing and humbling to remember the hard times at Mars Hill and how God has always been so faithful.
Two legalisms at this point nearly killed our church and me. Making this change was brutal. Why Your Church Doesn't Feel Like A Family. Church Planting, Innovation, and Male Leadership. Mars Hill Church | God's Work, Our Witness | God's Work, Our Witness. Pastor Mark: Well, Mars Hill is like one big, crazy road trip with Jesus as the driver, and I thought it would be fun to take folks around and let them see where we’ve met in the past, where we’re at in the present, where we’re going in the future. I get the great joy of seeing most of what Jesus is doing. Most people only get to see their Community Group, their church, their service, and they don’t really get to share in all the enthusiasm and joy of everything that God and his people are doing, so I’m really excited to be able to take folks around and let them see what I see.
A “Nice” Moral Guy The last thing I ever thought I would be was a pastor, because growing up Catholic, the pastor is a guy who lives at the church, is flat broke, is committed to never having sex, and walks around in a dress. So pretty much, that was a last career choice of all possible career choices. Yeah, I was a nice—at least I thought—nice, moral Catholic guy. Grace: He introduced himself to me in the hallway.
The Calling of the Planter: Video. “Ropet fra Oslo” | DAWN Norge. Acts 29 Network: Seattle, WA > By Pastor Scott Thomas Every young man that considers church planting asks the question, Am I a Church Planter? It is the question I asked myself before planting a church. It is the question we ask every man who submits himself to our Acts 29 assessment process to be a lead planter in our network. Many times he is depending on our assessment process to confirm his calling. Not all churches have a vision for church planting and few have insight into what a church planter looks like.
Our church leaders should be able to spot a church planter and then send him to plant as soon as he is ready. I did a survey of pastors associated with a church planting movement in 52 countries of the world and asked them to describe the characteristics of a church planter. We believe strongly that the Bible teaches that this office of an elder and pastor is reserved for males. In creation, God made Adam first and then Eve to be his helper.
