What's With the Three-Eyed Raven in Nudity-Free Game of Thrones?

Most of this stuff (going by DVD commentaries) was scripted in but didnt make the final draft because of budgeting from the producers. The gondola was interesting, not sure how I'd feel if they went there, but I could see it. They might have planned to use it as a more extreme version of the large lift the Eyrie uses to bring supplies up from below.
