Air Discount Scheme extended to Third Sector 17 July 2012 - Charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in Scotland's remotest communities will welcome news they can now take advantage of discounted air fares said Transport Minister Keith Brown today. The Minister was speaking during a visit to Stornoway where he confirmed the Scottish Government has extended the Air Discount Scheme (ADS) to travel undertaken by volunteers and employees of third sector organisations.
Mr Brown said: "Since its introduction in 2006, the Air Discount Scheme has been an overwhelming success. Its 70,000 members have taken advantage of the 40% discount on core fares with over 1 million tickets discounted to date. "We are committed to ensuring that the scheme is targeted at and used by those who benefit most and that is why I am delighted to make this announcement today.
