Con la reciente noticia del terrible terremoto que azotó Haití, el “tema Haití” se ha puesto de moda, por decirlo así. Hace ya algunos años, varios científicos haitianos habían predicho que un terremoto de gran magnitud era una posibilidad real en Haití, debido a su ubicación, exactamente entre dos capas tectónicas. Las personas en general, ignoran este dato y prefieren llegar a sus propias conclusiones con relación al tema. Desde un castigo de Dios por brujos, hasta un castigo de Dios por negros, y pasando por cuanto disparate pueda existir. Por eso, quisiera ponerles en perspectiva, si tan siquiera un poco, lo que ha sido la trágica historia reciente (y no tan reciente) de esta cercanísima Isla.
Luego, entonces asignamos culpas si queremos. Sabemos todos que hoy Haití vive una tragedia natural catastrófica y lamentable. Sin embargo, esta pequeña y cercana isla lleva no 10, no 50, no 100, sino más de 200 años viviendo una tragedia que parecería orgánica. ¿Qué ustedes piensan?
