The latest in a string of infrastructure projects in Georgia is a twisted cascade of concrete forming a checkpoint at the border with Armenia by architect Luka Machablishvili. Construction is already underway in Ninotsminda on the structure, which will be over 100 metres wide and will divide traffic from both directions into a total of eight lanes. Stained glass panels will infill the spaces between some of the concrete slabs, surrounding two floors of staff facilities at both ends of the building. Israeli firm Chyutin Architects have won a competition to build this museum that will bridge over a sunken garden in Jerusalem. The Museum of Tolerance will sit on the border between the built-up city and Independence Park. The museum, which houses a theatre, hall, restaurant and exhibition spaces, is clad in stone with a curtain wall of glazing facing onto the park. The sunken garden will be accessed by sloping grass terraces and house the remains of a Roman viaduct. The location is a meeting site of three main streets which differ in character and function. Hillel street: a bustling commercial zone; Moshe Ben Israel street: a road crossing the park; and Moshe Salomon street- Nachalat Shiva’s pedestrian mall, a tourist hub, full of restaurants and shops. Jetzt schenkt der Unternehmer dem vom Dirigenten und Regisseur Gustav Kuhn geleiteten Festival, das vor allem mit großen Wagner-Inszenierungen überregional Furore machte, ein eigenes Festspielhaus. Von außen ist der Bau, der wie ein Sporn aus Stahl, Glas und Beton aus einem Berghang direkt neben dem alten Erler Passionsspielhaus ragt, schon fast fertig.
