You either slave your computer to the adat, your adat to the computer, or do it the simplest way which is to push record on your daw and play on your adats and let the sound roll on in. Even if you go back out through the analog and back into digital you won't notice any real lose. If you card has light pipe though, it is a piece of cake. set your computer to slave and push record, then push play on the adat.

As far as I understand the adat should be recieving the audio thru the 1/4" ins, converting to digital, and spiting it out of the optical out at a 48K sample rate. the 001 set to optical at 48K should recieve the data. To make matters even more confusing, if I send the 001 8 track via optical from a S-VHS tape. One more thing, Jeff. When trying to trouble shoot, I rec enable all adat tracks and turn the gain way up on my pre-amp (listening to room noise). then I record enable the 001 and listen thru the headphones.
